A rather popular thread on another forum, here! What's the worst coin you can find? This can be Ebay or your own collection. (The most damaged one) http://www.ebay.com/itm/Ugly-Coin-C...170212?hash=item35ed5706a4:g:g6EAAOSw9N1VlJPQ This one isn't even round! http://www.ebay.com/itm/Ugly-Coin-C...124097?hash=item35f6195d41:g:MIkAAOSwPcVVqwFN Attacked by a lawn mower?
If you're going to post eBay links, you should post the images along with them. Images in eBay listings tend to go away after a while.
I was gonna post the Presidential Dollars from my recent mint sets, but I gotta admit that some of these are a little bit uglier. But just a little bit.
Sorry, that was pure snark. They look exactly how the mint intended them to look. That's the tragedy.
What happened to that poor thing? Oh well, still a seated. The '77-CC I have is very, very, worn, but still looks somewhat better.
I walked down a sequence of nickels in an earlier thread on this topic. Here's the one I started with: In the same lot, I got this gem: Oblique light reveals just enough detail to show the date: I keep meaning to hit it with Verdi-Care, but it's got a certain perverse charm as-is.
Thanks. That lot was some of the best fun I've had in the hobby. It looked like any other cull/junk lot, but I bought it on the strength of the holed trade dollar and a few other identifiable blobs -- and it turned up that 31-S (as the last coin at the bottom of the bag), a 12-S nickel (also corroded), a really nice darkly toned 25-S nickel (I typed the date wrong in the original post), and several lesser semi-key Lincolns. I think I quadrupled my money just on the trade dollar, but the best part of the whole experience really was the several hours of "good Lord what next?" as I went through it. Just goes to show that the ugly ones can be good fun, too.
This has been in my family since the 60's... I believe someone painted it pink LONG ago. Pictures don't do justice to how ugly this is in-hand.
