    Damn if I don`t agree.

Add to that, the direct purchase of gold, platinum and silver Eagles on a price determined by the closing price of those precious metals on the day you order. A bigger premium per coin for singles, a lesser premium per coin for rolls and above. You can`t tell me that the Gov`t of the United States ( Treasury Dep`t) cannot figure out how to develop a website than can handle sales on a daily basis.....

I hate to burst your bubble, but government agencies are famous for their multi-million dollar expenditures on software that doesn't work! The IRS alone has spent more than a hundred million without getting it's "matching" software to operate as desired. [IMG]

i still like the am eagle silver half ounce to surface. i even like the mint to create 1/2 cent for young collectors and beginners. of course not for general circulation. i remember when i was young. i like to collect 1/2 cent stamps. i also got some 1/2 british and australian penny. it was fun.

it is time to produce half ounce eagle.

i hope the mint will produce half ounce american eagle silver bullion coin. the one ounce might be too expensive for younger collectors. a 1/4 ounce will also good. but not the 1/10 ounce.

A half ounce silver bullion coin would be a welcome addition. There are too many commemoratives and overpriced made-for-collector coins, and not enough bullion coins.

I wish that the Mint would do something on the wildlife thing like China did with the Pandas and Australia did with the Kookaburra! I get tired of seeing all of those old dead Presidents and their dead spouses! We have a lot to offer in Wildlife for use on half ounce or one ounce Bullion coinage. Besides, due to the lower cost of half ounce Bullion coinage, I could see a much higher interest in them from the overall public!

I doubt they'll do anything like this in the near future. They're currently rationing the bullion ASE. (May 23, 08 article in the Wall Street Journal). If they can't produce enough 1 oz ASE for investor's demands they don't have enough silver to start a new line.

the perth mint discovers australia in the dreaming series for platinum, gold & silver. the perth mint is wise enough to produce 1/2 oz, 1/10 oz and 1/25 oz instead of one ounce. because the platinum, gold and silver were much expensive than before. so it will be easier to sell. hopefully the mint will follow australia. by producing the fractionals. too many one ounce in the market right now.

Not to mention the FBI's transformation project which had expenditures over 100 milllion and it all may be down the drain.

From a strictly aesthetic point of view I'd say that the design would translate nicely to a smaller format.

A half eagle would then be a half dollar and that would probably really confuse alot of people. Plus I think this would be a Gov't thing to be able to add another half dollar to coincide with the kennedy half. It's bad enough now that people can't even tell or know the difference between sacs and Prez dollars.

I think it is pointless at this point to have a half ounce. think of the insane premiums that would be placed over spot silver price. if you are a new collector, why not pick up the intro packages at universal Coin, littleton, that offer ASE 1oz for as low as $12 to $15.

If you want 1/2 oz.... here is an idea... go to your bank, ask your teller to give you some rolls of half dollars... search. =)

Btw, went to coin show today, ASE for $20? already $7 premium over spot of $13.... are they going to sell half oz ase for 100% premium to spot? $6.50 for silver, $13 for coin.... talk about capitalism at its finest.

I'm gonna agree with Danr. I think that the design would really look great in a smaller size. I would like to see more items such as this from the mint, but fewer of them minted. It would be more of a collector thing that way, and items would be worth more if they didn't produce SO many of them.
While we're at it, I would like to see the Sacs stopped, the Kennedy halves stopped, no more 8 year Quarter ideas, replace Roosevelt with Reagan on the Dime, and start minting the 1/2 ounce ASE.

it is better to produce 1/2 oz silver. because it will look cheaper for us or young new collectors to afford buying it. just like the 1/10 ounce gold. in fact it is considered to be at a higher price. but if you look at it. it looks cheaper and affordable.

with 7,200,000 bullion eagle coins produced. why not cut into half and produces the half eagle silver dollar.

I know I would love to see a half oz. In fact, I would love to see a nice 1/10, 1/4, 1/2 and 1oz like Britain and Australia does or go one step further and create a 1/20oz like Mexico and China.

last year the mint produced 19,583,500 ounces of silver bullion american eagle coins. this year 7,834,500 ounces were produced as of march. if the mint made the 1/2 ounce silver eagle. then it should have been total 15,669,000 pieces. the mint can use the diameter 36 mm for the 1/2 ounce and 45 mm for the one ounce. check the australian lunar series II silver one ounce coin. its diameter is 45 mm against am eagle 40.6 mm.
