I decided to go ahead and put together the full run of bullion 2014 Mexican Libertad silver rounds. I would like a Kilo as well, but it appears that they only made the "proof like" Kilos this year and they run over $1000 for just 32 oz of silver. So here is the run of 1/20, 1/10, 1/4, 1/2, 1, 2 and 5 oz .999 fine silver rounds. Also a 1/4 oz gold to round out a nice group. All have fairly low mintage, except for the 1 oz. The 1/4 and 1/2 were fairly hard to locate and probably had the largest premiums over melt. Any and all comments are welcome. Rob
I absolutely love these and want to get them in Unc too! The design is stunning and this is my first 5 ouncer, which is a really impressive coin to hold and feel. Want to get a couple gold pieces like you have there @Teddydogno1
"I absolutely love these and want to get them in Unc too! The design is stunning and this is my first 5 ouncer, which is a really impressive coin to hold and feel." Where did you buy your nice Libertad set?
Probably here for the 7 coin set. http://www.choicebullion.com/coins-...5-7-coin-silver-proof-mexico-libertad-set-pre
"I don't think I've seen a "set" in the Uncirculated ones. I put mine together manually" Several years ago, at a Whitman show, I bought a set of them in silver, one ounce and smaller in a wood case. Nice presentation. I'll have to check to see if they are circulated or proof. Then I saw a beautiful one ounce gold proof one out of three hundred or so, PCGS70. Bought that one too.
http://www.choicebullion.com/coins-...5-7-coin-silver-proof-mexico-libertad-set-pre I don't remember when I bought my set I think I paid around $225.00 for it.
In reference to this post in particular, $585 was the initial pre-sale price of the 7 coin 2015 proof set.....and they sold out in a matter of hours on ChoiceBullion because the set was limited to 250 sets worldwide, just like last years. The supply was said to have lasted nearly 2 days if you ordered through Lois and Don Bailey. You can find them on the Bay for $900+ now, but supplies are dwindling because they were just recived by the original buyers about a week ago. The flippers are dumping at the moment and the market will thin out once they are bought up by collectors.
Congrats on the purchases indeed! The Mexican Mint issues two types of Libertad Silver PROOF sets; a 5 coin set which has a mintage usually around 1000, which is what you have, and as of 2014 they began issuing a 7 coin Silver Libertad Proof Set which has a limit of 250.....these are dubbed "The Magnificent 7". http://world.mintnewsblog.com/2014/10/2014-silver-libertad-proofs-the-magnificent-seven/ But no, the Mexican Mint does not issue any sets for the Unc. versions. Which actually makes them more fun, IMHO
I almost forgot! This year Banco De Mexico actually did make a different set though! They teamed up with APMEX to produce a co-branded reverse proof 1-ounce set which was limited to 1000. It kind'a smells of corporate branding and greed though. They started selling them for something like $199, but as they saw the demand, they jumped the price up to $499. Sigh....I still want one. LOL http://www.apmex.com/product/91150/2015-mexico-2-coin-silver-libertad-proof-reverse-proof-set
Correction.....the reverse proofs limited to 500. Funny, I could'a sworn it was 1k. I still want the Unc versions of all 7, they'd be purdy together.
"2014 they began issuing a 7 coin Silver Libertad Proof Set which has a limit of 250....." I'd really like to buy one of those 7 coin sets. Maybe next year. Beautiful coins. Now I collect currency and interesting stock certificates however I'm also going to resume collecting Libertads.
