Turn it 180degrees and it looks like a pistol on the Rev... ah, those crafty ancients, they had much more technology than we ever dreamed of. Just the other day I was reading about the Roman Air Force...
Great coin. This is only the second time I have seen the bare headed Vespasian. The other was on Forvm.
As Chris rightly identified that is known as a wizard staff. Once the staff is taller than your head your become a full wizard. Speaking as a full wizard myself it is a long and arduous task to meet your goal. Many fall short but the reward far surpasses the requirement. A word of warning to all those who attempt. Mcdonalds tends to be more forgiving than Burger King when you walk in with your staff.
I still love my answer better: You can create a Wizard Staff WHILE you make a SPUD GUN!!! Spud guns are only to be made when on the journey of a Wizard Staff. Raining spuds down upon your neighbors while following the Wizard Path is an awesome feeling!!! Be sure to use a lot of duct-tape at the ignition chamber...or use PVC tubing!
Honestly, that would be a very cool piece of jewelry. (tm). Ok, now I just Trademarked it so I own ALL exclusive rights for the past 2600 years, and all future rights. Any sales of all Attican Tets, owls, jewelry, etc., I demand a 25% royalty. Joking, of course... but an Awesome Avatar...
Take a look at ancientcreations.com - based out of Vegas. They have 2 physical shops in the Venetian and Caesar's Palace. If you're ever in Vegas and feel like being offended; drop by. Ridiculously overpriced jewelry with buffed coins; nothing like ruining a perfectly decent ancient.
It was before I was really in to Ancients (but had a few), and I was offended then... because of the bastardization on History.
In their defense, I think their target is uniformity. Buff the coin until it matches the luster of the setting. Ha.
I don't care what their letter of guarantee says, most of the silver coins on that ancientcreations site look like cast replicas. Some of the more common bronze looks authentic.
These photos were taken today, while I was walking with my two best friends (Buster & Larry) Good times!!
Looks like a great day Steve, are you on vacation yet!! is that the Saskatchewan River or Nelson River behind you. lots of water!!
