You know, I don't have a problem waiting for grading. What I do have a problem with is that NGC states their current turnaround time is 21 days. Why can't they just be honest and say it's 1-2 years.

In my humble opinion....I have noticed that as of the last 5 years PCGS is NOT the TPG of choice. It has lost it's luster and the attitude they have is one of GOD-like status. I don't like it at all. Every time I talk to someone at PCGS they are very rude and non-cooperative. NGC is the top dog NOW IMHO. They are very gentle with World Coins too. New list: 1. NGC 2. PCGS 3. Everyone else

I completely agree with this. Any time I get a world coin in a PCGS slab I crack it out and submit it to NGC. The only thing I prefer PCGS for are moderns and US dollars, but I hate the feel of their new slabs. They don't fit into most of my slab boxes and the plastic feels cheap.

So yeah, I guess I will see the grades today.
Apparently they were ready July 6th, when I received an invoice in my email. I called at the time and asked them if I needed to do anything, since I included my payment info in the submission. I guess she was wrong. I called yesterday and they said they couldn't see the credit card number since I submitted online. So I gave it to them over the phone and they will ship out today!

I just got my coins today. the one crack out they said was cleaned came back MS62. Someone stated they might have used a sniffer on it at pcgs?

I do love the die crack off the chin.

The "sniffer" is only used on coins submitted under the Secure Plus grading tier. And Secure Plus coins are always labeled as such.

It is extremely common for coins previously designated as problem coins to be cleanly graded on re-submission, or, coins that were previously cleanly graded to come back as problem coins after re-submission. And this true with NGC and PCGS both.

This is the first I've heard of a sniffer. What's up with that?

what I will say is I like the fact NGC emailed me the pictures of my coins before the grades even came out. PCGS never emails me unless for special offers or problems.

I sent two coins in to NGC and they came back with grades that were lower than I thought they should be. I cracked both holders and submitted them to PCGS as raw coins. Both came back one grade higher than NGC gave, go figure, personally I prefer PCGS, Ed

Please be careful how much you pay for PCGS coins as most are overpriced simply due to cult like mentality of PCGS followers. With patience one can find like or superior coins in NGC holders for less money. Most price guides show PCGS coins worth more and even most dealers concede that you should buy the coin not the holder. If you were picky to start with you can avoid crossover costs and risks by buying NGC graded coins. Both services have similar populations of most coins. There are enough good coins to go around.

It's fairly simple, it's because they are inconsistent. And not only with deciding what is gradable and what isn't, but with grading as well.
