So I'm selling this item, and I know there is still time but, has this every happen to someone where an item sells for less than its face value?
There are 4 days left, you`re worried already? Yes, I saw auctions on eBay where items sold for less than face value, both US banknotes and coins. Pretty sure I didn't win any of those, but not 100% sure.
I'm sure it probably has- you can make there be a minimum sale price or when the auction ends you retain the item if you choose.
Most bidding happens in the last 20 minutes. Most people just watch the items as they go buy and if they see something interesting. They bid
Currently 2. Althought I got one new one just after this was posted. I'm not super worried as this has happen before.
Don't be too discouraged, but you also only have 10 positive feedback, and do not offer returns. Have you looked to see what other sets are selling for?
Self promotion Sully. Not the place to post this. Shouldn't be posted. Word the post differently. (I didn't report this post)
49 out of every 50 items I'm interested in I simply mark to watch, then if the price near the closing bell is below "my price" I place a bid on it of my top purchase price. Sometimes I win, sometimes I lose. But I've noticed more and more bidders doing this. So I wouldn't even begin to worry until a few hours before it ends. If you are getting cold feet and want to cancel early you can do that as long as there is more than 24 hours left before the ending time; but doing that often gives you a bad rep with those who were bidding on it.
I didn't report it either, but my hand has been slapped a few times by the Mod man. Remove the link Sully to save yourself. My two cents: If it is an exciting set of coins or coin, no reserve .99 bid to get people excited. If it's a sleeper, put a conservative 80% start price to keep people entertained. It's all about average net cost.
Oh yeah! I remember selling a 1978 Mint Set for $1.38. That really hurt which is the primary reason that if I have a bunch of something that I know won't sell well, it goes to the bank. Proof coins are at the top of the list since if I break out a Kennedy Ha;lf from a 1968 or 1969 Proof Set, the remaining coins become pocket change. Of course if I own a B&M Shop, they'd go in the display case but since I don't, they don't. They go to the bank................
I didn't think I was violating any rules but I assume I was mistaken. Unfortunately I can figure out how to edit it.
No, it is exactly your intention, and I know this because this thread is like a bad case of deja vu all over again. The last thread, the one in which you were selling an almost identical item (multi-coin slab), netted you a fair number of bids from the kind and generous members here - members you couldn't even be bothered to thank after the sale - and it is obvious you're hoping for a repeat. While I couldn't care less about self-promotion, at least have the decency not to BS the board, Sully.
Like I said this was not what I was hoping to do. I did thank the people who bid and I personally thank the winner.
