    Adjective noun.

What is the "intrinsic value" of silver?

As a 'standard of value' it is a contradiction in terms, an absurdity.

However illogical, this term, like many others, has a fairly definite meaning in the minds of most people.

Actually what something is worth, is how much somebody will pay you for it....;)

How do you justify your answer?

Thousands of fiat currencies have come and gone but silver is still worth the same thousands of years after the fall of the empires who used it as money.

It's not even worth the same as it was four years ago.

It's not even constant in terms of gold.

So, what does that mean, the French Franc is one of those currencies that have come and gone, but no one lost their money if they were holding some Francs in the bank, correct?

Fiat currencies always end up being worthless.

Yeah right. What about Continentals, CSAs and Wiemar wallpaper. Worked great, correct? How about French property holders who had their land confiscated and used to back the French Assignats? Yeah, that worked great too as long as you weren't the confiscate-ee paying for someone else's screw up.

So when you don't like the post you just answer with something else that has nothing to the statement. What on Earth does confiscating land have to do with the fact that folks with the FACT that holding French Francs did not get you broke, even though the currency has "come and gone" Also why are you arguing the post with the fact that folks did lose their money with other currencies, Everyone knows that. The point was simply that just because a currency becomes worthless, that does not always mean the person holding the currency loses. Are you saying I am wrong on this statemen???? If so, prove it, otherwise leave your drivel at the door.

But the folks holding those currencies don't always lose their purchasing power.

So when you don't like a reply you call it drivel? I used the land confiscation example because people (churches mostly) lost out because of collapsing fiat. If you don't like it, tough silver pucks. I don't play by your rules.

That doesn't make any sense mike. But instead of explaining it in a more lucid fashion you demand that I prove you wrong. Which is really choice. How many times have you demanded people back up their claims, prove it, where's the facts and the surely dreaded-I'm calling you out on this-- Oooh... shiver me timbers he's calling me out.

Are you special mike? You don't have to do what you demand from others?

I wonder if silver will soar or swoon next week? We are around $17.50, which is higher than it's been in a while, but we may have another dip before it goes higher.

Or, indeed, another blip before it goes lower.

I'll be watching with interest as well.

When you all talk about silver as a great investment for the future, just how much do you mean ? Five ounces, five thousand ounces ? Do you purchase silver rounds, silver bars ? What ?
