    Lets lighten up on the garden philosophy as well as the medical diagnostics, there is no need for either. His profile says he is 10 years old, and I doubt that he has funds or inclination to be a bullion guy at this time. He thought he had some silver, and wanted to show it. Instead he gained some knowledge and maybe in 30 years have more bullion stashed than most of us. It can be easy for those with more knowledge to sound off on those who don't yet have such, but it is not the forum's way. Thanks.

    OP should be moved. That's the simple and logical thing to do.

    Has that never happened on CT, before?

    Each moderator decides on their own as to move a thread or post, and I do not see a need for it in this case. I feel there was over-reaction and assume that is over. PM Peter if you or anyone has a problem with a moderator, he's the owner

    $11.95... that's what is lost.

    In post #10 you just stated that you "hate" those who plate coins and sell for such extreme profits, yet say this in your very next post? Unless the kid bought it for the novelty factor, and knew full well what it really is at the time of purchase, it does not matter if he likes it or not; the kid was burned. If he truly learns a lesson from and is better for it in the long run, that's great, but is less likely to happen when so many feel the need to fluff over mistakes.

    Agreed. It doesn't matter if the rooked is a noob, female, Special Needs or an 8-year old buyer: burned is burned. Nor should we ever be dishonest about that misfortune and risk, to anyone, period.

    otoh, sycophantic coddling (or saccharine condescension) is the exact opposite of hard-won education: "fluffiness" (flattering affection) reinforces both the buyer's delusion and the seller's con. Also, tacitly buying into the Greater Fool Theory? I don't live in that land of make-believe, sorry.

    When I was 8 and spending all "my" money on coins, my father said of my coin purchases from the pricey LCS, "You're wasting money there, son." As an "investment" he was absolutely correct. (In a number of other significant and positive ways for my development, he was wrong.) I believe that I eventually learned from my wishful thinking, in hindsight. But no one could have showed me that at Age 8, either. Coin humbugs are the same hustle they always were, btw.

    Side topic: {Just out of college, I was an elementary school teacher for a few years. Is it old-fashioned to wonder at the parenting which allows small children to surf the internet in 2015? I'll grant that they shouldn't be excluded simply as minors everywhere, but - legal issues aside - it's utterly ridiculous to allow young children to post in forums discussing frankly adult matters (mortgages, healthcare, finance, etc.) That intrusion is worse than "self-promoters" ; it's an unreasonable and unwanted troll-ish distraction for legitimate participants. What's the Kiddie Korner for, anyway?}

    You should have probably discerned by the rules section, if you have read it, that the owner of the site, wants his site to be very family safe. The rules reflect that.

    I agree with you, and this is why there is an alternate site also owned by Peter where you can talk of these things, including religion and politics and the relationships to bullion, and such all you wish until you go overboard and the moderators intervene. However, most don't want to do so, preferring to bluster here instead of facing others who bluster back and more. If you don't accept this forum, move to the other, or elsewhere.

    So many come here, especially to the bullion part that wants to convert all to their 'religion', whichever the side is, and preach the one true fact . wherever it is, and that goes fast, one way or the other. No offense, if you owned the site, you could post what you want, since that isn't the case, please stay with the program. Thanks

    All the jabbing aside DelPinto does have a point as SorenCoins even stated himself:

    Soren knows the difference between collector and investor yet he continues to post coins in the bullion section.
    I am done with this thread...

    Excellent point! And posting looooong after the normal bedtime of a preteen... 1:25am on a weeknight? I'm genuinely surprised a responsible family-friendly website would encourage that, too. Anybody for a TrollCoin? https://bleutrade.com/exchange/TRL/USD

    This discussion is why I tend to stay away from plated coins and don't give it a mention when it comes to bullion investing. There are probably not many things that can tick a bullion stacker/investor faster off than a plated coin. lol
