I don't know if I would advertise that as proudly as you are. It is equivalent to when my daughter insists that she isn't 3, she is 3 AND A HALF! Additionally, if you have 14 years of numismatic experience, one would expect your...knowledge....to be somewhat more thorough than some of your statements have alluded. Not meant to be insulting, just some friendly advice. I would also tread carefully insulting other members' coins by saying you would pay "face value", or a "dollar" for a coin that is, whether cleaned or not, worth much more, and in a currency denomination that is extinct. Again, this should be evident with 14 years' experience....

Just keep your eyes and ears open and just keep up looking and the good work you'll probably have the most collection someday

Matty: If you want to see an approximate value of a particular ancient coin, try looking at auction results at places like http://www.acsearch.info/

That was a different specimen but yes, they are on the expensive end of ancient coin collecting. The Eid Mar denarius is considered by many to be the most desirable of all ancient coins. If you'd like to read more about that coin, click here. In addition to many other CoinTalk member's excellent websites, you'll find a wealth of information and beautiful coins on the rest of AncientJoe's website.

Here are some other great resources:

Doug Smith (CoinTalk's DougSmit) has a vast site with a great range of coins and information.

Warren Esty (CoinTalk's Valentinian) has a similarly large and information-packed site.

Actually, acsearch is a composite of auction sales; however, looking at particular actions like Heritage, CNG, etc., are tools to be used as well.

Very impressive OP, I think I may have seen a coin that has been treated similarly.

VK. :O That is a crazy job you did there! Wow, absolutely spectacular...
