I still believe my panda is real. Does anyone oh where I can buy a better case for it though? I will still compare weights with my other panda which I think is real
I own 1 2011 Panda that was a gift, I have nothing against Pandas as coins. However the reason I both recommend and myself tend to stay away from Pandas is because since Pandas are highly faked(or perceived by many people to be) this will effect the resale value on a Panda or set of them. That's why I would recommend as I did earlier in this thread collecting a complete set of American Eagles. Which are less faked(perceived to be faked less). It's the perception of the Pandas being faked more than other coins. That's what makes people "anti Panda"
I agree somewhat with you though I just like the modern designs I think they are cool! They also have a far less montage than American eagles.
Thanks for saying perceived. It's seems to me that perception is mainly just here, I don't go to coin shows and only go to one coin shop so I only know what I read on message boards and see on sites like eBay and APMEX....It would make sense that coins that go for many times melt value would be more counterfeited than those that don't and if you compair Pandas to ASE's as a whole Pandas have a far greater numismatic value. My question is if everyone fears fakes why do they continue to go up in value as ASEs remain stagnate....if everyone had the I wouldn't touch a Panda with a 10' pole attitude like this site pretty much has I must be missing something?
I buy so much off amazon I would have use the gift cards for something else and then bought this so I wouldn't worry about authenticity.
Cool coin! Would like to get ms 70 for all the pandas but that costs way to much for the earlier years.
That's another thing no matter what series of coins you collect I would recommend getting them slabbed or buying them already slabbed.
That's just the thing. Most people consider bullion to be just that...and slabbing bullion to be a gimmick of TPG's.
But, but... the scarlet letter! Why go for a certified less than, ahem, "perfect" 69 when for just a few dollars more one can hold onto that chance of a 70? Authenticity and seller concerns be damned; let's not forget about what's important here.
Will consider it! That way there's no question if they're real. I don't like the fact that slabs are so bulky though.
I weighed my 2011 panda it is 35 grams including the capsule. Weighs the same as my other panda. Seems legit.
If only that were true. You now have to question the authenticity of the plastic slab as well as the authenticity of the coin.
It's much harder to fake the slabs. Also if your going to buy slabs only buy them if there graded by NGC or PCGS there the most reputable grading companies. ANACS is ok though. I would recommend only buying slabbed coins that are graded by those companies.
You didn't get to see the attachment because I took it down, but it was a FAKE PCGS slab next to a real one. They are identical. Hologram & all.
