Is there such a thing? Are the groups called groups, clubs, etc? How do I find them? What do I search? Are there many of them? What is the deal with them? How do I search for them?
Honestly...it wouldn't surprise me if some of these kids do this sort of thing. Not trying to call out anyone in particular, but we're all familiar with the kid who posts their stash for...who knows what other than for all to see.
I was contacted by a guy who wants to buy a gold coin from me. I asked how he found me and he said something like a facebook gold group posted a link to cointalk about a guy selling gold? He wants to send me a money order, Im just curious about this whole situation.
Probably from this. I would be careful taking a money order though. https://www.facebook.com/cointalk
I've received many emails out of the blue from people wanting to buy a couple of gold coins . . . typically asking about Maples, AGE or Saints, asking which credit cards I take, and not even seeming interested in what my prices would be . . . THAT is a huge red flag. I've successfully steered clear of adverse circumstances by indicating that, until I have a good business history with them, I will only take checks or money orders, and only ship after the funds have actually cleared my account. To date, I have never heard back from a single one of those individuals. If you proceed, do so with caution. - Mike
He was after one of my cheapest gold coins, a type 2 gold dollar. He also haggled, and he offered to pay money order, so I will give it a go. thanks for the advice.
There's a million facebook coin groups, I'm a member in some of them. I've bought and sold on there. I've accepted both PayPal and Money Orders. There is even a group called like the coin razz where they raffle off coins. 10 entries, $10 each, one person wins a MS64 Morgan... the others are out $10. They post a video of the seller doing the drawing on some random number generator site and the number it picks is the winner- Ticket 1 is 1, 2 is 2, ect.... I've never tried it, only because I haven't seen something on there I was willing to throw money away at. I personally haven't had a problem, but there are people that have. Some of those groups have lists of banned people. From my experience most of the stuff on there is the lower end collectors stuff, rolls of wheats, red seal $2 bills, AG seated and barber coinage. I did see a 1917 25C TY1 MS66 posted on the one page so.... not all junk but mostly.
I typed in coins on my phone went to see more results, clicked groups and this is what I got, there's tons of them.
