I was in Vegas a couple years ago for my birthday and we went into the Gold and Silver Pawn Shop famous from the show pawn starts. I bought the old man coin that was highlighted on the show at one time because hey it was silver and I am a fan of the show. It was clearly overpriced at $60 when silver was around $35 an ounce at the time (before its recent tanking the last couple of years) but figured why the heck not.

I recently thought about adding the Chumlee coin they did several years later and was flabbergasted by what I was seeing these going for. Silver is $20 and ounce and these are going for $65-75 still. I mean that is a huge markup, I'd like to complete the set but not at that over price inflation.

Just wait, in 10 years you will be able to buy at spot, maybe sooner. Most of these types of rounds fall back to melt, and in fact many do get melted.

To me, it's a waste of good silver.

Remember the pawn stars have to double their money if not triple it on every single sale.

If it were up to me, I would have fired him long ago. He's lazy, and is a perfect example of what a good employee SHOULD NOT BE.

I want them to film your shop on a daily basis. THAT would be a show I would never miss a second of! :D

Did you notice there is no grade on the label?

Chumlee is not as stupid as he makes out to be on the show. It is all scripted for TV.

    doug444 STAMPS and POSTCARDS too!

ABC News says Chumlee went on a diet and lost 95 pounds. Hope his rounds still weigh 1.00000 -- anyway, here he is, before and after.

Maybe I'm just old school, but this kind of "scripting" sends a bad message to our youth.

Aw, come on Chris. Don't you know its cool to be a stoner retard, or a "sex tape" whore, or just general trash nowadays? Its those losers who study math and science we need to make fun of relentlessly in this country, until we get rid of such perversions. :(

So, you're saying that it's cool to be "stoopid" because it's easier than studying to be smart.:yuck:

I guess we should stop trying to educate the newbies in numismatics because they won't remember anything we tell them. Right?:yack:

I've always wondered what he's like as an employee when the cameras are not rolling because if hes like that all the time he should have been fired a long time ago. What they show on cameras is not what happens in the store, you go into the shop and you never ever ever ever see Rick, or Hoss, or Chumlee or the oldman unless they are filming so what do they do as employees. I figured the oldman and Rick have to run the finances of the store and there is no need for them to be there doing a regular employees duties but what about Hoss and Chumlee they are employees and not owners they should still be working somewhere in the shop but they never are.

I saw Chumlee there the day I went. Of course he was swarmed with people wanting pics. All of the numismatic items were way, way, WAY overpriced. Most pawn stores are not deals for coins, but at this point this place is simply another overpriced tourist trap.

The old man coins are keeping value on ebay.

  20. I think Hoss has some ownership in the store. They did have an episode or two that talked about giving him stake in the company. I know its all heavily scripted but things like that I would think come from real life things that are actually happenning.

I would also assume that Chum has some sort of ownership stake too. But either way I would assume their job is actually to deal with the show as well as their brand, and not specifically the day to days of the shop

Years ago there was a cartoon series named Tennesse Tuxedo. His best friend's name?? Chumley! A coincidence?? LOL.
