Need some opinions 1/2 oz RCMP

I'm not a hardcore investor or collector. I collect what I like and hope that one day they will go up in value. Maybe not the best approach, but it's mine. I've learned long ago not to guess to see what will go up cause there is no guarantee.

That being said I don't want to be stupid either and overpay for something. I buy 1 oz silver coins. I love em. And when I came across the O' Canada series I thought hmmm. I've always loved the RCMP since I was a child. I like the 1/2 oz RCMP coin which is 3rd in the O' Canada series, but I think its priced kinda high. I mean its only 1/2 oz of silver. Is this common? Why would a 1/2 ounce coin cost as much as a 1 oz.

I guess the question is: Do you think its a worthy purchase? Or is it too inflated and to skip it. And if someone could explain to me why its as much as a 10z coin or higher that would be super awesome.

    Thanks! :)

As an investment vehicle? Yeah, way too much, but 39 Dollars Canadian for a coin you like, thats not so bad. If you like it, go for it.

There's always the option of waiting and see what the price is in the aftermarket a year or so down the road.

Very nice, I bought the wolf, bear and the Inuksuk...really like the intricate detail and proof finishes...of course they still have the alien on it too...

These are the cheapest 1/2oz numismatic coins that you able to get from rcm. I have a set of these as well and the are nice.

Thanks for the input everyone. I'm still on the fence but I do love the RCMP!

If you really like the coin then go ahead and buy it. With that said, I doubt that the price will increase as time goes onward. Personally I stay away from Canadian coins unless I really like them. Especially when were talking about bullion. Unless it's an ASE they are harder to sell, at least that has been my experience. There are tons of coin collectors who only collect US and therefore only buy US, I'm not one of them but there are many.
