$23.50 for a 2014 Maple Leaf w airtite. $24 for a 2014 ASE w airtite. That`s the price that one shop gives me.....I get some things a little cheaper than most because I have been doing business with them for a while, and hook them up with some things as well. Other shops and dealers are getting roughly $25 for a 2014 ASE and $24-$25 for a 2014 Maple Leaf. On a side note.....The 2014 Pandas are already bringing a ridiculous premium. $35 on average with some going for $38-$39. (raw in capsule) Idk if these people never heard of places like Apmex, MCM, etc, or if they just prefer to purchase them in person? Either way, I won`t touch em unless they`re graded. (Sorry China.....just don`t trust Ya)
I mostly buy foreign silver. 2 different local shops sell it at melt by weight. That is, the actual weight of the coin, not the silver content. It's not the best way to buy a 10% silver wash peso, but fine for sterling or stuff with numismatic value separate from the metal content.
I am trying to understand paying $25 for a silver dollar when you can buy ASE's for the same or less?
My LCS is selling common date Morgans in AU or lower for $18.00 each. They're even cheaper on eBay if you get lucky... lately I've seen a few go in the $16.00 range. The trend is definitely downward. I expect to see silver selling in the 14X range soon... at least that's the indication I get from my dealer.
my dealer confused me, at least the lady handing the desk did anyway. She said common dollars were $18, but then said halves would then be $9 each. I didn't want to ask her to clarify that, mostly because I was not buying ay at the moment. I am pretty sure if I had asked, then halves would have been closer to $8. I have been watching eBay and unlike years ago, I never find a auction closing for under value like you mentioned above. I feel that even if silver drops, unless it sustains below $20 for a long enough time, prices right now are as low as dealers will let them get. They will put stops in and just increase their margin. It costs around $20 an ounce just to mine silver these days.
25.00 for an ASE. A bit cheaper for generic silver bullion. Recently I was at my LCS and the owner told me he sent in 100 1996 ASE bullion pieces to be graded. He told me an MS 70 is worth something like, 20 grand. All came back MS 69's.
