Details at the US Mint, this is a unique coin. I don't know how to link to this web-page maybe someone can help. Thanks 50,000 $5 Gold Coins 400,000 $1 Silver Coins 750,000 Clad Half Dollar Coins Total Mintages
No not at all a rare coin it is a comm coin and the mintages are pretty much standard for commemorative coins ! Also 50,000 gold coins is a pretty huge mintage one those !!
I think the coin is pretty cool being curved like the ball & mitt. the mintage numbers are the max allowed and about the same for all commems. they haven't sold any yet so who knows what the mintage will be. it will be interesting to see how the slab people deal with it.
I would have rather ed to see a Ultra high relief coin than this . It's like a gimmick they're using to sell the coin . Then again I have a couple ancient Roman Republic coins that are shaped like this .
Hmm, I have one with the same shape, issued by the Monnaie de Paris in 2009 (Int'l Year of Astronomy). http://mashopsimg.com/pollandt/pic/artid15205_combined.jpg And Australia issued a curved one in 2012. http://www.ramint.gov.au/media/press-releases/2012/downloads/20120815PROOF-SouthernSky_CRUX_DOME.jpg But still, the baseball look and design is quite interesting. Will probably get me one. Christian
I think when something different comes along in the coin collecting world, we just have got to have one !
Want something with a different shape. The 2001 un ultime franc Warped. Some toning, but an unwelcome carbon spot on the 1.
