Be careful. This Tetradrachm for sale at forumancientcoins is most probably a fake: https://www.forumancientcoins.com/c...p?param=10496q00.jpg&vpar=552&zpg=115944&fld= BNF has it as "faux moderne": https://catalogue.bnf.fr/ark:/12148/cb41849738m Got this information from the German forum and it was posted by Amentia today at https://www.numismatikforum.de/viewtopic.php?f=49&p=577584#p577758 Wanted to contact Forum Ancient Coins so they could look into it, but can't figure out how to do it. Doesn't seem right to post a message on the discussion board. Has somebody info how to contact them? This is the tetradrachm:
Interesting. The Forum coin, at 14.36 grams has a lower weight compared to the numastikforum coin, which is clearly a modern coin, weighing a way out of standard 19.55 grams. The Forum coin is is pretty rough shape, typical of an ancient coin that's been around 2,000+ years. Is there a consensus that fake dies are being used? I seen lots of cookie cutter fake Athenian and other tetradrachms, from Bulgaria and now it seems Morocco, among other places. The Forum coin, however, doesn't see to be in this category. Still thinking, or at least trying to....
I understand that Amentia collects fakes...Amentia doesn't say the weight of his (her) replica, which is the fourth picture; but says that the third coin is from the same dies as pictures 1+2 (forum coin).
That is reassuring. Amentia has a long list of fakes & copies that is very worthwhile to check and is doing a great job. Her (his) arguments are completely logical and easy to follow.
It still there but for sale at 0.01$ and described: pressed modern fake !!! https://www.forumancientcoins.com/c...p?param=10496q00.jpg&vpar=552&zpg=115944&fld=
The link is there but the coin is withdrawn from sale and is in a category identifying it to be sent back to the consignor. It was withdrawn within minutes of them being informed..
Nice, they are thus acknowledging that it is a fake. There are collectors who are interested in fakes, surely someone will buy it.
Even best can do mistake. The last one I remember Joe missed was discussion here : (sad that sallent had a credit not money back…) https://www.cointalk.com/threads/latest-roman-republic.363421/
Sallent could have money back. I would have sent him green paper money in the mail if he had asked. Although I would have told him it is a stupid idea, it wouldn't have been an argument. He could have had the refund any way he wanted. Except the return was more than a year after purchase, so we could not refund any of the actual payments. Refunds to cards and PayPal only work for a month or two. We would have sent him a PayPal payment if he had asked, but they would have charged him fees. He was, back then, ordering frequently, so it seemed he would use the credit soon enough. We would have sent him a check in the mail if he had asked, but he didn't. He didn't say anything to us, only here. And now years later Ricardo123 you are repeating his nonsense.
« Not what I asked for… » but you say he no ask. Sadly Salent is no here to defend himself. But anyway, I run business too, and when I do mistake, I OFFER my client and not wait to be ask for compensation. And I willing to give MORE than what it cost for my mistake. Don’t come here and accuse someone to be liar, that is not gentleman.
I did not call him a liar. He never asked for a cash refund. He calls it a presumption, and said we assumed, which means he he did not ask. He certainly never asked me. I only said he would have received a cash refund if he asked. I never said anything about him lying. You cannot even take the time to read a paragraph and understand it. And you make insults based on your misunderstanding. You think you are a gentleman. No, you are a petulant gossip hiding behind an anonymous username.
You think insulting me will prove you point? I will show the full post of Salent and let members judge what he means in his reply. I wish you best in your business Joe. « Update; FORVM gave me store credit. Not what I asked for and it was very presumptuous of them to assume I didn't want a cash refund, but whatever. I'm in no mood to argue, plus I will return to the hobby with a more focused collection in about a year once I've worked on getting other priorities squared away, so I guess I'll utilize the store credit sooner or later. »
Wow, you really cannot read a simple paragraph and understand what it says. You pasted it and don't even get what it says. I told you he did not ask me for a cash refund. So you are calling me a liar? A rhetorical question, don't bother to answer. And, are you so oblivious that you don't even realize you insulted me first. You really aren't much of thinker. You wish me the best? Then never speak of me again, you nasty gossip.
I very disappointed by your reaction Joe. You don’t have a reputation of an agressive man, so maybe a bad day for you. And yes you right; I not much a thinker, English not good for language, come from a poor and modest family Central America and did not go university like you. All I have I work hard with my two hand. But I love you anyway Joe, because you remind me of my 85 father. He had career in the military, like you is a good family man, but like you he never been wrong in all his live. Never say sorry, never say I make a mistake, never say I am wrong. Just a free advice: try it one time, it will not kill. Just say sorry salent I was wrong and apologized, I try to do best next time. But again I forgive you for your bullying, and in your shoes I try understand why you frustration with this thread on CoinTalk. The real problem is not here, is one of your member find a fake in your store and did not call you instead post it in German forum so all the world will know. It’s not gentleman to do like this and humiliate you and business. Sorry for that Joe, really. God bless you and you family.
If you were really sorry, you would just stop talking. As I asked. I admit I am wrong all the time. This time I am not. You are the ass here. Your "God bless you" doesn't make you nice, it makes you phony. You are a nasty person, sliding insults between your niceties. And sign your name if you have anything else to say about me.
Dear Joe,sorry if I hurt your sensibility. Maybe it’s a cultural thing, but in my origin country we are use to this kind of virile debate. We scream, argue, debate and after that shake hand and open bottle of wine. I understand you not use to be challenge or contradict but you get use to it. About your request of not talking to you, the answer is no. Why? 1) Because you don’t command here, it’s no military and on CT everyone is equal. So you sit down please and listen, and after you reply. That is the way working here. 2) it is a forum of discussion, so we discussion here, challenge and argue with respect. About me insulting you, I think you win on this; you learned me new insult in English, but it is ok with me. And also I know you like this kind of discussion as good as me, or else you would not comeback, right ? Just try to control yourself please, it a conversation not the war ! Looking forward to hear you argument my friend. Ricardo (Ramón) Torres
No, I do not like this kind of discussion. So I will say good bye. Of course, someday you will insult me again because apparently you do like this kind of discussion.
