So UPS tried to deliver mine yesterday and today, but nobody was home so they left a note. I tried to call and have it held and UPS is telling me that the Mint isn't allowing this to be held. The only option for me is to take off work on Monday and sit here during the delivery window (10:30 am to 3 pm) or else it will be returned to sender. Is anyone else having trouble with this? I have never had them refuse to hold it at a service center before and I'm pretty upset at the notion of having to take a whole day of vacation just to take delivery of this coin.... Is this a new policy by the Mint?

Did you sign up for UPS My Choice, I think if you do you can request an afternoon delivery. Like between 2:00pm and 5:00pm, then you could just leave work at lunch maybe. :)

Yes, I'm already a UPS My Choice member, but there isn't any option to change the delivery time or location, nor to waive the signature requirements. I even called UPS customer service (by the time I got home the Mint was already closed) and he said there isn't anything they can do because those terms were dictated to them by the Mint.

The mint must be getting tired of buyers saying that they have not received there item and requesting a refund.

You might be able to have it delivered to your parent's or other family member.

I had to do this for a 2013 $5 gold proof coin just a month ago.

I can get to the Change delivery options, but the only one available is to return to sender. The rest are all listed under the unavailable options. It wouldn't be that bad but I'm swamped at work and really can't take a day off.

Can anyone tell me of some reasonable alternatives to buying this? I'm guessing the raw ones from the major dealers are probably all cherry-picked. What's a good price on graded coins?

What I usually do is just go down to the UPS depot and get them to pull my coins off the truck. Like you, my wife and I work and there is nobody home to take possession of the coins. Fortunately, I live in a small city/town and the UPS depot is only 15 minutes away. I usually go home, grab some dinner and get down there around 7pm or so. I take the sticky notice with me and they have never given me any lip or trouble about getting the package. Usually they are super nice about it. Its a little inconvenience but worth it.

What I was able to do the last time I missed a delivery is I called the depot and asked for other options. While I was on the phone with the CS rep she called the driver and arrainged to have him meet me at a local grocery store parking lot at a specific time.

Yeah, for every other deliver I have ever gotten I would just call and ask them to pull it from the truck and then stop by the depot and pick them up after work. They won't let me do it this time. I looked at prices last night, and unless I want to pay about $400 more I guess I'm stuck having to take time off work. I'll be calling Mint Customer Service on Monday to let them know I'm not happy with this new delivery policy.

I’ve actually stopped ordering from the Mint because of problems with the UPS drivers going through packages that were sent from them. All of my ATB 5oz coins arrived opened and resealed with UPS tape. Two “fell off the truck” and were lost, and one arrived with a thumb print on the coin. I suspect if the coins were gold I would have never received any of them. Previously I only picked packages up from the UPS depot so that they can be opened on the counter below the camera.

I did order this edition, but will refuse the package if it appears to have been tampered with. It really isn’t worth it to me anymore because if it is the driver, he knows there are PM’s in my home, and knows when I am not around.

Just got mine in the mail today. It is a beautiful coin. I opted to get mine on ebay, a PCGS PR69, for 1825 free shipping. Hopefully when and if I have to sell it, I have made the correct buying decision.

I, also, got the run around with the silver WP ASE twin set. I called the mint and was told I couldn't change the delivery address to my mom's. I was going on vacation for 2 weeks and couldn't be there to sign or transfer to another address. I kinda gave up.
When I got home, there was a postcard that said they'd hold my package until, get this, for 2 more days... Well, that was enough time. So, the next day I drove to my local UPS depot and claimed my pair of the 2 ASE's.

Now, getting to my order of the the RProof AGB's. I ordered 2, and now the US Mint has postponed my delivery to later this month. I can tell that I'm going to have problems here.
I'm having surgery soon, so I know I'm probably not going to be around or able to get them. I'm sure the timing will not be advantageous for me. They'll be sent Priority mail, so it may be easier to deal with my local Post Office, (they know me).
I don't care, I'll drag my butt over there to pick these up. I already diverted funds to my account to cover the expense. Now my $$ will just sit there waiting to convert to gold.

Well I had to take time off work today to be here for delivery, but it was worth it. What a beautiful coin. I don't see anything that would keep it from being a 70 if I decide to get it graded, but I probably won't. For anyone that this may happen to in the future, I called the Mint and they said they could call UPS and authorize it to be held, but in the end I guess there wasn't enough time because they never got the call before it went out for the third time and I didn't want to chance it.

Joe, I knew you'd be there for me. I'm going to try to be around to pick 'em up by myself. I'm not sure if I'll be sending them in to NGC. I'll look at them and check for anything that might keep them from being a 70. I know I'll love them no matter what.

As in my previous post, the UPS people will try the 3 delivery attempts then HOLD it for a week or 2. Just as my past post explained. They won't send it right back after the 3rd delivery attempt. They hadn't with my ASE 2Proof coin sets. This is something for everyone to take into consideration when you can't pick up your goods from UPS when you want to. I'd suggest calling the UPS depot near you and ask them how long they'll hold on for late pick up. All I know, is it worked out well for me when I didn't even expect it.
    Good luck.
