In this thread, please post your current Provident Metals purchases, and please tell the forum about your experience dealing with them. Also please vote from 1-5. 5 being the best and 1 the worst.
I have purchased bullion there many times. Never had a problem. Coins looked great. Best price however, is JMBULLION.com, because shipping is free on orders over 2500.
Seems to take them longer to ship (2 to 7 days) compared to Apmex under same circumstances. Not sure why. Otherwise, they seem ok.
Yea, They are kinda slow on the delivery, but once you place an order, the price is locked in, so it really doesn't matter when it arrives, its just gonna be stacked in the safe anyway. That's why I gave it a 4 instead of 5 star rating. You can expedite delivery by paying with credit card, but they charge extra for that.
I've only bought a couple of times. Prices were good and delivery was fine. Shipping a little on the higher side, $8.95, than other dealers I've used. Other than that no complaints.
These guys are where I bought most of my coins from. Raw ASEs, Proof ASEs, Maples, Phils, Libertads Prospectors. The only thing that was a disappointment was when I received the 2002 1 oz Silver Year of the Horse | Lunar Series 1. On their site they stated that it may or may not have the original capsule. Well I don't know if it was the original one but it was all scratched up and I had to take it off in order to see the coin. I was sure glad to find that all of the scratches were on the capsule and not the coin. They allow payment through Bill Pay from your bank. There is a waiting period for a check and they ship promptly after that. I give them a 5. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk - now Free
Ive orderd from them 5 times and everything went well, shipping is a bit slow though. On my most recent purchases, when I checkout, it randomly adds more items into my shopping cart. This seems like a trick to take advantage of hasty people. Am I the only person, this has happened to?
The first time, it just doubled my items in my shopping cart, the second time, it added a gold maple leaf.
The only reason I didn't give them a 5 is their processing time. Sometimes I swear they must wait for enough orders to pile up before they order the bullion to fulfill those orders. Other times their processing time has been "reasonable", but never what I would rate as "fast".
I ordered 20 st gaudens copper rounds...pleased....the last purchase I made was 3 oz...1libertad/1 philharmonic/ 1 britannia....libertad and philharmonic are flawless...the britannia I was not pleased--it was all scratched up...I know its not providents fault on the condition but would have been nice had they gone the extra step just to look at it real quick and say hey he's ordering just one...lets get him a better one. but oh well....shipping is also slow in my opinion...averaging about 10 days from time of purchase to my hand...thats with credit card.
I would go about a 4. they have a good selection and mostly good prices. when they have a sale it's often better than other places and sometimes a few of their items are kinda high so I can't give a 5. I pay with check or MO and wait 16-20 with everybody so shipping times don't matter to me. it's product and price that count.
After reading the comments and seeing the poll results, there is no doubt in my mind that people with a complaint will tell a lot of people, and those that are satisfied might tell somebody.
