I'm not sure how it's worth $150 more for a piece of plastic than just getting a raw one from the mint.

Hush, Mush. If NGC and PGCS go out of business because people wise up and figure out getting modern bullion slabbed is utterly ridiculous, you will be partly to blame.

I ordered 2 at $1690 and just got an email that stated it's backordered and expected shipping will be 9/8/13. OK, So I wait. I ordered very late, but I still love the coin.

Specs, While I have sent coins in for grading/authentification, I, probably, will not send the 2 coming to me to be graded. As far as an ANA label, I'd love to have bought my RBuffs at the 1st offering , but I will not shell out 3K+ for the label and coin. That opportunity passed me by when I hadn't the original offer available to me.

Well, I guess the price has increased $50, so we're that much ahead, if you want to think of it that way. For sure, I'll keep at least 1 of them, but I have a track record of not selling my "extras".

Thanks for your response Bruce. I definitely think that 3K + is too much to pay for an ANA coin and yes the train has passed us on that one.

Wonder if your wife was in line by us for the 4 hours we were in line chatting it up with the people in line with us.

My wife and I shared the line standing on and off for 4 hours to buy 6 of the RP gold coins. Had not planned on going back to the show on Friday but figured what the heck....a chance to get my hands on the coins. Turned a quick $800 and brought two home. They are nice but I kinda like the looks of the regular buffalo gold coins. I didn't take the time to submit them to NGC who was the only one doing the special labels and they won't take them now until there is a definite shipping date on the mint website and then they will only get first strike or early release designation. Not sure if I will send them in or just leave them in the box. Here is a pic of one I took with my new camera I got for taking pics of coins.

My advice to people who cant afford the coin. Dont worry about it. Collectors are nothing but glorified watchmen. They cant touch the coin. Just wait for someone to upload a good picture here. Save that and enjoy it. You wont have to spend a dime and you will be able to do what the owner can - look at it.

My reverse proof arrived yesterday. (I am in Indiana, so it is a short drive from PBGS.)

I saw what appeared to be a scratch to the left of the 2 in 2013. I pried open the air tite and got a Q tip and touched it and "the scratch" moved. It turned out to be a little piece of plastic.

It looks perfect to me now! The coin in general looks better in hand than in pictures. You have to be able to move it a little bit for the mirrored areas to catch the light at different angles.

It is in my safe deposit box now, but I'm actually considering joining NGC and sending it in. I have always been an OGP guy, but I saw some pictures of a buffalo proof where a pawn shop owner took a chunk out of it to test if it is solid gold. I don't ever want my coin to meet that fate.

Then again the thought of putting it in the mail scares me too.

If you mail them in, you send them registered mail insured for the value of the coins you send to NGC. I have sent several packages of coins to them and they all get there just fine. I took a couple more pics today of one of the coins I have on a white background instead of black. If I decide to send mine in I think I will get the black retro holder since I do think they will look nicer with the black around them.

Another note, the lady at the Mint display in Chicago said they watch the gold prices and adjust the sale price of the gold coins every Wednesday. So if gold goes back down then the price should go back down too. It's almost like the ANA had an in with the gold and silver prices as they just went up and up during the show and then went back down after. Hmmmm.

There were several gold coins refused at the second offering on Friday of the show because there were flecks of I guess plastic inside the coin holder that you could see on the coin. It looked like scratches but I don't think they would let you open the holder up and blow on the coin to see if it flew off. The did let you inspect the coins before you said okay and they bagged them and moved them to the payment table. I refused 2 because of the debris on them and the guy said that was all I could do. Well hell, when you are paying almost 2k for a coin you should have the right to really make sure there are no scratches on them, don't ya think?

I don't need to tell myself anything. I can buy 10 of those. but that's not the point. the point is you are not born with coins and when you die you leave them behind. so its not worth being unhappy over them and for people think they are important because they own a coin they need to go get a life.

    Greetings everyone! First post.
Just found this forum and signed up today. I'm a member at BS, GIM and Kitco among others. The members here seem positive and I like the format of this site, thanks Coin Talk.

Been following this thread a lot lately like many and wanted to throw out what I think could be a decent deal. There's been a lot of talk about the Regular Proof Buffalo potentially having a very low mintage, possibly becoming the key to the series because of all the hype of the Reverse Proof

Gold Mart has them for $1640 straight from the mint. Not sure why they haven't raised the prices since the usmint has.

Anyway, thought I'd say hi and look forward to all the insight.

    cheers!

I got mine today. To each his/her own, but in my opinion, it is a stunning coin and no picture I have seen does it justice with the way it just pops out at you. Definitely flashy but I love it.

Thanks for the insight. As i had hoped for this would probably be a niece piece to put on a gold coin holder with a loop where i can insert a gold chain and place this reverse proof buffalo inside that secure gold coin holder and wear it . When the sun or light hits this coin it will go BLING!!! Would love to see the ladies reaction.
