see post above, and it's not screwing ebay out of anything, and further breaking the rules you agreed to abide by is in and of itself unethical in most situations.

I'm not screwing eBay out of anything either btw. If I didn't buy the coin it could've just as easily have never sold thru eBay

I'm fact next time I might buy the coin through eBay it all depends on the situation. I still use eBay every week.

You guys can just dollar cost average my few unethical buys into my future legitimate purchases I guess. Lol

Again that little ethical test. If what you did became universal ebay would go out of business and the option to find coins on ebay and buy outside ebay would not exist, therefore basic ethical principles say what you did was unethical. Everything else is just rationalizing for one reason or another.

Yeah at this point everyone's opinion has been formed. I'm still gonna get a good nights rest as I feel like my possible unethical very slightly in the gray area if so action pales in comparison to every other persons own little crimes they commit each day.

Basically if the only moral fiber I need to be concerned about at the moment amounts to squeezing an unethical situation over on eBay. Then I think I'm gonna be ok as a person.

Its not free to list on Ebay. You pay a monthly fee for X amount of listings, when you go over you pay per listing.

Ok, but I still think its a grey area for a seller to link an ebay auction, and saying they will end it if they agree to sell to someone else. Just grey to me, maybe its alright, i have never thought about it that much. I was just saying it was not unethical like a buyer and seller finding each other on ebay, then going off ebay to complete the transaction.

To the best of my knowledge, Ebay advises that you not list items for sale elsewhere, but it's not against the rules. However, if you had to cancel too many auctions early Ebay can penalize you for that. Given that, I don't have a problem with people listing items elsewhere, but I do find it unethical if they use the Ebay item page to sell the item off of Ebay.
