I was planning to order 1 or 2 but now you've got me thinking. I just checked ebay and sure enough I see a NGC PF69 2013 for $1619 buy it now. http://www.ebay.com/itm/2013-W-50-G...92607?pt=US_Bullion_Coins&hash=item1e7d4ca01f

    It's $1690 from the mint. I don't get it.

That is the regular proof coin, not the reverse proof coin.

"On-Sale Date: To ensure that all members of the public have fair and equal access to United States Mint products, any order placed prior to the official on-sale date and time ofAugust 8, 2013, at 12 noon (ET) shall not be deemed accepted by the United States Mint and will not be honored.
There will be a four-week ordering window beginning August 8, 2013, at 12 noon (ET) and ending September 5, 2013, at 5 p.m. (ET)." - from the US mint website

this appears to be one of those rare "sure things". Think of using the credit card on this one. Take note that I am specifically endorsing this product ;)

I understand that. I used that example to go along with what Chiefbullsit predicted would happen with the reverse proof. That is that you can buy one cheaper on the secondary market than you can from the mint. That doesn't make sense to me when the coin is still available from the mint.

So I figured I'd bump the thread and mention that I hope gold closes below $1280 today so we can save about $50 on this bad boy... smells like a winner to me :)

I bet they sell 20,000+ the first 5-6 days of issue....:D....first sales report Tuesday 8-13-13.

My first time NOT buying from the Mint in a loooooooooooooooooooong time.
I will buy a graded PCGS 70 from one of the BIG BOYS that get theirs first.

Ya know that FIRST IN, FIRST OUT service the Mint says they offer..yeah right.

Strange that the price is the same as the proof coin, so how will that play out down the road?

Glad to know the price will be $1640~ Anyone know if there are any one sale anywhere yet? I may skip the mint and buy mine graded as well... they tend to send the nice coins to the big guys and send the crap to the rest of us~

Ebay pre-sales are down to $1995, after fee's and shipping not much left for profit.

With really cool looking coins such as this, I have to buy one of the series. Just need one for my type set. The date is not important.

Backordered - Site was just a tad slow this time, but if anyone reports an initial ship date before Sept 8 that would be interesting.

My order completed at 12:05 and said "back ordered" with a ship date of 9/8. My only thought is perhaps the mint heard the outrage over the PSE W sets and decided that all will ship the same time. ...If I see a bunch of retailers with graded sets pop up in two weeks, then I will switch to buying older gold coins end my dealings with the US Mint as that will be the second time they will have hosed the average consumer in less than two months.
