My complaint was never with the TPGs. You brought them into this. My beef is with the mint. The mint gave the big re-sellers the advantage of early ordering and first shipping, therefor an unwarranted advantage over the little guy. Scream until you are blue in the face, you will not convince me, or many others, of anything different.
You brought up the amt of time needed to grade the coins when you said you ordered at 12:10pm. You have no evidence that the did not ship coins in the sequence they were ordered. And I am not screaming. I think that might be a way to try to belittle my point of view. But I have been discussing the evidence in a calm and respectful manner. The big dealers do have an advantage over the individual collectors. They made the investment and took the risks and applied their knowledge and skills.
I can certainly testify they didn't ship in the order the Mint received the orders. I know several members here ordered before me (based on their order numbers) and yet I've had my coins for at least a month now.... some of those who had the earlier order numbers are still commenting as to not having their order.
so can someone tell me what "BIG GUYS "was shipping graded coins on may 20th Because i didnt see anyone shipping coins on may 20th
Sorry, that should have been June 20. My sets, ordered on the first day, May 9 at 12:10 PM, were not shipped until July 2. For a graded set received on or before July 1, see post #710, posted on July 1, 2013.
I think he meant June 20th. I just looked back at the posts around that date. Here is what I found: 1) People reported shipping confirmation from Mint June 20th. Note: PCGS First Strike period ended July 19th. 2) Sets were confirmed received by individuals starting June 22nd. 3) On June 24th someone received a shipping confirmation for graded set from Silvertowne. So, there was a four day period between the start of shipping from the Mint to when one of the "Big Boys" had graded sets in hand. I see no evidence that Silvertowne got sets before the Mint started shipping to the little individual collectors. This is starting to smell like a phony scandal to me.
My order arrived today, 08/06/2013. The enhanced round is a MS69 and the Reverse Proof a PF70. That would indicate they are not a dealer returned set since the PF70 would have been exchanged out with another lower grade coin before they returned it. However, I won't get them graded because they are not valuable enough for insurance purposes. It can be done by my children if they choose to sell them one day. The cases will go in the closet and the beveled holder, with both pieces, into the SDB. That completes my purchases from the Mint this year. Now it's time to go back to collecting classic's.
My last day order ship date moved from 9/17 to 8/12 today. And I just got results from PCGS: half 70 and half 69. I guess I break even. Lastly, Paradise Mint's latest newsletter predicts a flood of graded sets hitting the market in the coming weeks.
I noticed that on ebay the past couple of days. This morning I saw a few PCGS 70 sets sell for about $290 or so. Those were the first ones that I have seen sell for less than $300 on ebay.
I really like this new forum UI . . . there was/is a guy who pretty much accused people here complaining about how poorly the mint handled sales of this set (individuals versus dealers) of being whiners, and when I set him to ignore, it completely removed all his posts without a placeholder. Nice!
Just noticed mine did the same thing! My ship date has been 8-9...this morning it is 7-19! Good to know my order is "in process"!
$279.00 at MCM $272.03 by wire PCGS or NGC sp70/PR70 http://www.moderncoinmart.com/2013-...ore-holder-with-special-west-point-label.html
Sounds like the slabbed versions are dropping... Am I remembering wrong they were in the $300+ range a few weeks back?
