I have the opportunity to buy 5 PCGS MS70 Gold Panda for $128.87 each. Should I pull the trigger? I only collect ASE's, so this would be something new for me. I would just keep one of them and sell the others.

I would snatch it up in a second.. That's right about melt and to find gold, in MS70, slabbed for melt especcialy when gold is really low and good to invest in, that's an amazing deal.. But it depends if you appreciate the coin itself.

Sounds just a wee bit too good to be true. Carefully check for counterfeits....

Got an email from my investment club. And they are saying that they are PCGS MS70. If I can't trust them, who can I trust? They are claiming that they are selling at spot price.

The question you should ask yourself is why are they selling them at that price, this sounds fishy bud, becareful. I would look up your club for any scams on google.

Well, I've been with the club for several years now, and they've always given great advice. Sure, they hit me with a whole bunch of marketing stuff that doesn't interest me or doesn't apply to me at this point in my life. But this is pretty interesting, and it might be worth the gamble. I've already talked with my coin guy, and he says that he'll but the extra 4 $140 each. That makes my single coin just a little bit better.

Well, I can't answer who you can trust, but considering MS 70 1/10 oz Panda's are trading North of $200, me personally, I wouldn't trust them. I mean why don't they just flip 'em on EBAY. YMMV

I don't know mike, but that's what they are offering. They have 5400 of them to get rid of. I think I'm going to do it. Could be that the shipping and/or insurance will not make it as attractive. I'm going to call as soon as I finish eating lunch.

Why would you sell then to your coin guy for $140 when you could flip them for $200 easy on EBAY? Apmex sells even the raw ones for $170. This is not adding up.

Oh, sorry I didn't get what you meant. I don't "do" EBay. I don't trust it at all. And, I'm not in it to make money. I don't have any gold coins, so this would be my first one. If I can make a little bit of a return immediately, that's a good thing. Very worst is that I'm down $650. That would stink.

5,400 PCGS graded sold at melt? Are you sure these are genuine?

As sure as I can be. This is my first time buying something on faith. I should have them all by Friday, so I'll post what I find out. Could be a $670 mistake, but I don't think so. They've assured me that these are PCGS certified, and I'm hoping that those slabs are really hard to fake. I wouldn't know though, as I don't own any slabbed coins. Wish me luck.

Mike, a few pices for sale, there may have been an every so slight possibility, but 5,400 Slabed MS70 Panda's at melt? Only two chances of that being legit. Slim and none and Slim just left town. Notice how no one is asking for the Web site? Even if you come back and Fri and say all is good, there will still be no one wanting the site.

These coins could be moved for a $60 profit without breaking a sweat. Thats's $324,000 profit for the whole lot. Do you really think they would take a hit like that?

These might possibly be the 1/20th ounce gold pandas in MS 70, I don't know. But I ran in to a deal like this in 2010 where a guy just over-bought these pandas and wanted to sell.

There wasn't a web site to go to, it was over the phone. However, when I get my receipt (via email) the vendor is FirstFederalCoin. I'd never heard of them, so I searched. There's quite a bit on them, one thread even from here. Most complaints that I could find were two:

    1. WAY over-priced.
    2. Didn't get what you paid for, meaning that it really wasn't PCGS70.

I didn't see anything where the coins were fakes, so I've got that going for me I think. And, the price that I paid I think (and so do most of you) think is WAY under. So I went to their web-site, and it's pretty sparse. The prices that they had were in fact way over what I would pay. Oddly enough though, no 10th ounce Pandas to be had via the site. The "offer" that I got was until 7:00 CST tonight, so in that sense (if you believe it), they'll probably offer these on the site for more than what I'm paying.

So when I get them, I'll just take them to the dealer that I know and have him look them over and get his opinion. If all is well, then great, I've got a good coin and he'll get 4 of them for a great price. If not, I'll return them and get a full refund. If problems arise there, I'll just cancel the charge on my credit card.

Oh, and I still have 6 ASE's to finish my collection. I'll see if I can trade 3 of these coins for 6 of the ASE's that I need. Might be a win-win for both of us.
