Jealous! I didn't think too many people liked silver Washington's which is why I pick them up so cheap lately. Looks like a great collection, maybe post some detail shots of individual coins here: http://www.cointalk.com/threads/post-your-washington-quarters.210115/ (my images are all dead due to the move to new CT, hopefully they will be back someday)
I really do enjoy the Washington quarter series. Ive known for about a year now that I was getting these from my grandfather and they were supposed to be willed out to me I guess, but to save some jealousy and family fighting he cut it out and just gave them to me. Not that anyone else was really interested in them (my dad possibly) but just to make sure no one was hurt over what they deemed 'fair', and to keep folks from harassing my grandmother i would imagine was why he did it this way. Its really mixed emotions because i love the coins and absolutely want to be their caretaker, but I feel so bad when he gives me things like this as if he knows there isnt much time left for him. I also hate just taking something that he really enjoyed and took his time and money to build. With that being said, i have full intentions of keeping all of the coins he gives me and taking care of them to the best of my ability. I will be sure to post some pictures soon in that other thread. In fact I may post a place holder post so I can go back to it as I imagine I will be cataloging these coins for a couple weeks to come. -Greg, which ones caught your eye? I know the pictures kind of sucked but something spoke to you. -Thanks Jello!
The only "keys" to me are the toners. Picked up some beauty Peace dollars today. 1923 P 1923 P 1924 P 1924 P
There are only 4 Peace total. The last 3 have two images with different lighting. Yeah man, they aren't easy to find in attractive toners.
In that case I meant the second one and last one. I didnt even pay attention to the coin headings or I probably wouldve noticed that. I was star struck
Picked up a beauty in this Bay Bridge commem. Interesting story, an old woman came into the shop I bought this from and sold 9 of the Bay Bridge commems to the dealer along with the original purchase receipt from the event in 1936. I was trying to get him to sell me the receipt but he decided to keep it. Anyway, all the examples were crusty toners, this I felt was the best of the bunch. My apologies in advance for the out of focus shots, iphone pics.
bought this ugly proof set with some of my ebay bucks. "buying coins online is like a box of chocolates. You never know what you're gonna get"
