http://www.providentmetals.com/2013-atb-white-mountain-5-oz-silver.html $120 credit card price? 25,000 mintage? I'm in! :hammer: [correction: for $120 these are not the 25,000 'P' mintage]
it's good for collectors of the series but it will kill any value of the set. low mintages will mean nothing now. it will probably hurt the values of pucks already minted. wah wah :thumb:
Maybe, maybe not. Lower POS should eventually create more demand for these, so the low mintage ones should do well.
I know the collector P Mint version is limited to 25k, but is the bullion version also limited to the same mintage?
Maybe you are right. The one I linked to above at Provident is West Point. So maybe just the Philadelphias are 25K? I wonder what the West Point mintage numbers are then? For just a few bucks over today's spot I'm happy to get for $120 regardless of mintage numbers.
Penny wise, dollar foolish. The premium charged for the low mintage collector version is usually well worth it.
Yeah, when I bought it I didn't realize there even was a 'P' collectors version. I might have invested differently, but probably not because I don't know that I would have paid double for a mint mark. I have eyeballed these things at local coin shows for heavy prices, and been meaning to get one if I saw a bargain. I can see plenty of reasons to spend the extra for the collector version though, and I can also understand some people'e frustrations who already bought the collector version but who would have settled for bullion pricing. You know never know, maybe in 25 years from now the 'P' versions will be more common than these 'W' bullion pucks!!
Hasn't happened yet - if it does, buy the lower mintage bullion ones. Last year the bullions were low mintage, so worth putting some away. Still the P's were lower mintage than the bullions and have done better, even with falling PM prices.
With the amount silver has come down I'm thinking of buying one of the bullion versions. I don't know if I would get any more than the 1. How many people here have bought just 1 to say that they have at least 1 in their collection?
I started with just 1 but I liked the look and feel of it that I've bought three more since. First was a Chicksaw park 2011, I picked up a second the next day. I got them both for $118 because they weren't selling at my LCS. I then decided that I'm going to start collecting them and pulled the trigger on the two 2013 Collector versions from the mint. I'm going to start buying them from the mint as they're released.
The ones from the mint come in a plastic case, yes. I bought a plastic case for the other two bullion versions I bought. Until I can get decent prices on the backdated mint coins, I'm going to buy the bullion backdated for now.
I'm not sure what you mean. How am I "powned" if I enjoy what I buy? As long as I'm happy with the price it's impossible that I be "powned".
Got mine in the mail (bullion version New Hampshire). Came with plastic case. I'll grade it MS+++++++++++++++++++ I'm sure I'll stack more of them. Although I feel like I'm holding something from the Franklin Mint. Over time I'll get used to it. I almost just set my Coors on it :bart: :bart: :bart: Looks like a coaster on the desk.
My versions from the mint are on their way. I can't wait to finally get them in. New Hampshire and Ohio. They're definitely different and I was in the fence before I bought my first bullion versions but once I bought the first one I got hooked. I got a great deal on it too because they weren't moving at the coin shop.
I recently received the White Mountain puck I ordered from Provident Metals. It was in very good shape and came in an airtite provided by Provident. I've only been buying them if I like the design. My next purchase will be the Great Basin. I like the some of the pucks a lot and have some of both types. For the current price difference, I prefer the bullion over the Mint version. Since I don't collect them for future value, but rather for present enjoyment, I don't think the Mint versions look that much better to make them worth over $50.00 more than the bullion version. At the current silver price, the premium on the Mint version is over 80%, which is cookoo-crazy. Then again, people who purchased the 2013 West Point Silver Eagle Set paid a premium of over 250%. Ouch! Can you say "Bend me over"?
Haha, it's all what you like. I really want the Puerto Rico "El Yunque" I have all of the regular sized 90% silver quarter proof sets they're really nice. The mint versions to me are much nicer. They're heavily frosted and look super nice. Put the bullion version next to the mint and it's obvious.
After thinking about it over the 4th of July and seeing the price come down a little more I went ahead and decided to get the White Mountain coin from Provident Metals!! Can't wait to get it and see/feel what a 5 oz coin is like. The biggest I have now is a 2 oz Mexican commemorative coin.
