2013 West Point ASE set

Darryl, when you first look at the coin in hand, you would almost swear it is a proof, but when you put a glass on the coin you do indeed see that the fields are burnished. The enhancements look like they are proof. Not proof like........proof. My pieces are totally mark free with absolutely no breaks in luster. If I were to send them in for grading (which I won't be doing) I feel that both coins would come back as 70's.

Yeah, proofs are a bugger to photograph, I haven't got it down yet, I would imagine it's all about lighting.

I'm guessing the fields on the "unc" aren't as dark as your pics?

Sweet...the reverse proof is still my favorite...but the enhanced is awfully cool...

 

No, they are not dark like that, but I play the light to contrast the fields and devices........other wise you'd be seeing me and the camera in the reflection off of the coin.......

 

Just checked my ship date....moved up from 9-30 to 8-8. I ordered 5-16. New ATB 5oz out Thursday...so I'll order the 2 June issues(!). Oye...why can't they space those out better?

 

I thought you had a fancy set up with a light box, tripod & separate lights? I don't yet, but it's on my short list. Either way, those are tough coins to photo with the intense contrast.

That's the same camera stand I have. I'm just using normal gooseneck lamps though.

 

My Samsung galaxy s3 phone does pretty good.

 

I called the Mint. My expected shipping date is July 2nd even though it still says June 17th on the website, but she said it might ship sooner.

I can't handle the waiting so I just ordered a PCGS 70 set which is expected to ship Thurs or Fri.

 

Yesterday, my date was changed from 'In Stock and Reserved' to 7/9 and the lady at the mint said 7/2.
This morning my date was changed to 'In Stock and Reserved' again.

why are these in black and white?

 

The shipping of these is starting to get ugly to say the least...

 

They only appear that way Spock. I adjust the angle of the light source so that the fields are blackened and thus not as reflective. Both coins are highly reflective and if I shot them dead on you'd be seeing my camera and fingers in the picture. Here, I shot some more (just for you) so you can begin to see the flesh color from my fingers at the very top of the coins.

My shipping date was 06/17/2013 but is now changed to 07/11/2013. My order was placed on May 09th at 1:22PM. Is it still First Strike/Early Releases eligible? Thanks!
