OK, help me out with this. Are there dealers that sell at spot + for reasonable quantities? I saw an ad for a dealer selling at spot + a little over $2.00, but only for more than $10,000 By reasonable quantities, I mean 10 or so.
I still find premiums in my local area to be waaaay high. Now that silver's dropped below $20, most local dealer's prices really haven't dropped much since silver was around $30. I keep telling myself it's time to 'back up the truck'. But I'll be darned if I'm going to pay $10 over spot to do it. Even your big online dealers like APMEX and Provident Metals are $3-6 over spot depending on what you buy and the quantity. I take it as a learning experience. My takeaway is that when the spot price drops like it has in the last few months, the price for actual physical doesn't really drop quite as fast(unless of course you're trying to sell to a dealer). It's "sticky" on the way down. Still, now's a much better time to buy in bulk than when I started this thread over two years ago. In April of 2011 silver was around $40, if memory serves me it hit almost $50 by June of that year.
I have found in so many cases that the selling price on E bay is very high, but it is the "bidders" that are taking the price up not the seller. I see this every day and just don't understand it at all....Alan
My 2013 Australian Koalas. At first I didn't like the kilo because unlike the other 2 coins, this one is entirely matte in appearance. The look has grown on me and I like it much better now.
There might be some still selling at reasonable premiums but I'm just waiting to find low premium stuff. At some point, people will start selling. I don't think we'll get a quick bounce back up to $30. People will sit on this for a few months and then decide to liquidate. It might be a couple of years or more before they start to move up. The market will wait to see what the fed does with rates. For those hoping for a quick rebound, it's probably not going to happen. And if it does, it will test the lows again at some point. I am finding the occassional good deal on bullion that I'm snapping up, but for the most part just waiting on the sidelines.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z5JrFPJrMgk Here is a link to my new silver stacking video I posted today on youtube. I just got 20 Scottsdale silver Omnia's in the mail and I show them off. Check out the clip.
How reputable are they? Looks like a website a junior high student whipped up in 2 minutes. No contact info either. Domain was only registered less than a month ago. Hmmm... Domain name: spoteagles.com Registrant Contact: spoteagles james curley () Fax: 141 West Jackson Suite 2506 chicago, IL 60604 US Seems to be alot of businesses at that address, but it's a big building in downtown Chicago, so could be legit. At least I don't think it's a Kinkos or mailboxes etc... I know personally I'd hold off investing without a lot more reputable endorsements...
I really like the look of my 2013 Austrian Philharmonic coins now that they are all in Air Tite ring style coin holders.
