Just ordered 3 sets and the new 5oz ATB...ASE set was listed at over 191k sold....my backorder date is 9-30.
Todays sales figure, 193,652. I just ordered the 2013-P White Mountain 5oz on the phone (internet was down at my place) and the rep tried to push the ASE Set – that may give sales a boost today.
Good question...I just went to my order and the site says the 5oz is "in stock and reserved" but no ship date.
Your items will ship individually, as the become available, even if they are all on one order, and there will only be one shipping charge.
NGC will allow only bulk submitters the 'special' black insert? A black insert. I am friggin' overwhelmed. I guess in my state of awe I'm supposed to pay more for a black insert than a white one. Why not pink or purple? Maybe instead I'll buy a PCGS or ANACS graded coin and not play the 'color of the month' insert game?
I wonder how many cancellations the mint will get with silver dropping the way it is? At $139, you are buying this solely on numismatic value. I think some justified that price figuring they had some built in intrinsic value as well. And rickmp, see my post #136 for and answer to your question. I enjoy the conversation but I don't figure in the outcome. Let someone else call.
Sad thing is that at least over half of the orders are from bulk coin dealers that are probably just diluting the rarity of this set.
The mint is laughing all the way to the bank as those who cry never pay more than spot for silver junk coins. Thats about all you are buying now but look what a high price you think silver is worth. Go for it.
Wow you really believe these coins are "junk silver"? You must be out of your mind! Let me tell you something, there are 2 types of coins. 1. coins whose value solely lies in the PM value and 2. coins that have numismatic value. These ASE's are being sold as coins with numismatic value not for there PM value. I mean, would you sell a 1916D Mercury Dime for the price of it's silver content? Heck no! The coin is worth far more as a numismatic coin. Similarly the Rev. PRF and Enhanced PRF's are far more valuable as collector pieces. These coins aren't bullion and I can't believe that there are some people would treat them as such.
Just want to point out the obvious: If the PM prices keep dropping - you can count on numismatic items with with large prices won't be bought. IE, folks may cancel the 2013 W eagle set if the price of silver drops to the floor. This could mean the item gets a nice low mintage.
Just hope the Mint doesn't start actually cranking these things out until the order period closes, or they may crank out a lot more than are needed when people cancel (if the cancellations happen). Then what'll they do with all the surplus sets? And wouldn't you think the mint would have to have all the display cases pre-ordered? I know at my job we generally have to order items with a nice hefty leadtime from our suppliers...
I'm starting to think the best part about these sets is how rare they make the 1995-W & 25th Anniversary sets look by comparison.
I looked today and mine says: Backordered 07/25/2013. I ordered mine on 05/09/2013 at 4:01pm. It was my first attempt and it went through in less than two minutes.
I'll never make a living as a proof reader in my lifetime. Thanks for catching that. I changed it to read properly. However, if you can wait until 09/10/2013 for my answer on gold and silver prices, I think I can be more accurate. :>)
