What is your favorite denomination for 90% US Junk?

I have recently started buying 90% for bullion value instead of 1oz bullion coins. I was curious what everyone's favourite denominations were and maybe why. I love halves!!! Liberty and Kennedy are my choice, don't really like the Franklin.

I like halves because they have just enough weight to them and feel great in your hands. I find dimes and quarters to small and the dollars way too big and heavy.

I agree about liking the weight of halves. I like the Franklins though, when I can find the better dates such as 1948 or 1949, or in uncirculated. There are about as many '64 Kennedys as there are total Franklin halves. Liberties are really good looking in EF or better. My favorite is quarters because I have found so many uncirculated ones in the 90% bin and they are nice looking even though quite familiar. The only dimes I buy are Mercuries, and then only in VF or better, so not too many. Dimes seem too small somehow. I have just a few silver dollars, they have higher premiums, and halves are the perfect size coin in my opinion

Half Dollars are my favorites as well. Ive moved away from 90% stuff and more into .999 bullion and numismatic coins with silver content. I pretty much just buy whatever catches my eye.

 

I agree that half dollars are the perfect size, and when i have the money I will go for one of them anyday. However, I find dimes to be much more affordable in reasonable condition, and I love the Mercury dimes. Dollars are expensive but the designs are awesome. As for quarters, Washingtons lack eye appeal to me, SLQs are expensive in good enough quality, and the Barbers just aren't that artistic.

 

I'd probably go with the Franklin halves. The places I buy online have 90% junk silver priced higher than mint issued silver bullion, so, I the new mint issued bullion coins instead.

 

I prefer halves all day for appeal factor, but I voted for dimes for liquidity, cheap fractionals.

 

I like (and voted for) dimes because they are easily affordable and easy to come by. But, being a CRH, I enjoy quarters due to the insane thrill of finding one. I haven't yet...

 

My LCS doesn't have any dimes. My only choices are Dimes, Halves and Morgan/Peace dollars.

Peace go for $24 and Morgans a bit over $30 for commons.

$24 is a pretty good price for Peace dollars.

I don't normally pick a favorite denomination, but when I do,

I pick Half Dollars.

 

And that was the price 2 weeks ago before last weeks drop. I wonder if I can get them around $22...or even closer to $20!!! Must be dreaming. hahahaha

 

Dreams can come true votoms - I got a Peace Dollar for $19.50 today at a coin show! It is EF with some black blotches (burns?) over about 15% of the Obverse. I will attempt to clean it with baking soda and aluminum.

 

Half dollars such as the Walking Liberty Half Dollar would be my favorite. :thumb: When I was a kid you could get quite a bit for a half dollar so when I was lucky enough to get one, I got a big charge out of it.

 

I love Mercury dimes. Roosevelts are nice too.

I like dimes and halves...but if I have to pick one it would be halves.

 

Mine would have to be the walking liberty half with the mercury dime a close second.
