Would anyone be willing to tell me where i could go to get silver as close to spot prices as possible? Just a normal website though please, not something like craigslist or Ebay. I dont care what form it is in but i would prefer the 1 ouncers. Thanks
Is this the closest it goes? http://www.providentmetals.com/ohio...z-999-fine-silver-bullion-round-iso-9001.html
It depends on how much you buy at once. If you want to buy less than ten ounces at a time, Silvertown is probably best since they offer free shipping. Once you get up to ten plus ounces, Provident is usually cheaper. However, things are wonky right now since the price dip we saw in mid April and many retailers either haven't lowered their prices as much as silver fell, or they raised their premiums.
These? http://www.silvertowne.com/p-11650-silvertowne-trademark-1oz-999-silver-bar.aspx And do they hold their value as well as all the others?
This gives you the current spot prices, but his question was where to buy silver as close to spot as possible.
Kitco is good, but they do have a $2,500 minimum, which rules out most people that come here asking where to buy silver.
Have you checked your LCS or bullion dealer? I have been buying what other people are selling at $1.50 over spot with no S/H at Dallas Gold and Silver Exchange. I don't believe they're in NY, but there must be similar places near you.
Kitco was more expensive than the SilverTowne. And i haven't ever seen a place that sells bullion around me and i thought there was a tax on it if you buy at stores. Plus that would mean using a ton of gas since i drive a Cadillac Escalade ESV and would defeat the point. Lol
ASE premiums are expensive. I know bought a few. I have bought canadian maple leafs too and there premiums are high too. I have been thinking of going to generic rounds....cheaper.
What are generic rounds? And i have a Silver Eagle 1oz already but i was wonderring; What is it that makes them different from the bars like the silvertowne? It seems like a lot of people recommend the ASEs too but they're more expensive. I like the ASE design more than the SilverTowne but what is the advantage to the price? Is there anything specific?
I also love the design on the Britannias, are they worth the price? Ones like this one? http://www.apmex.com/Product/72694/2013_1_oz_Silver_Britannia.aspx
Not worth it imo if you are doing this for investment, you'd be paying an extra $5-6 per oz for a pretty picture. I think you'd have trouble getting even half that premium when you sell them. Generic rounds is pretty much anything not minted by a government sponsored mint. Popular 1 ozers from government mints are american silver eagles, canadian maple leafs, austrian philharmonics, Great Britain brittanias, chinese pandas ect.
The premium price of my LCS before the dip(haven't been in since the dip) ASE-4.00 over Foreign Bullion(excluding Pandas)-3.00 over Silver Pandas-12.00 over??!!! Nuts! generics and off quality rounds are 1-2 over
