Excuse me if this story has already hit the air waves here at CT but nobody is perfect and I didn't see it. Anybody buying one of these sets? :thumb: Silver is down a bunch like $22.35 an oz but the US Mint is still gonna charge $149.95, dang that's $75 a coin. Ouch!! :D The enhanced obverse ASE is sure to get plenty of buyers that's for certain. ;)

  4. The mint learned that these coins were wanted by many and slowly raised their price.
They found that people that wanted to own them as a set would pay just about any price they put on them.
People that are into owning a full set of these are hooked on the coins and the goverment is hook on the high price they see people willing to pay.
Like many things we as collectors do this to ourselves.
Over priced is why i do not own any that i had to buy.
    .
My sister and law got them where she worked as birthday gifts and gave them to me.
The way i see it we as taxpayers pay the employes that make the coins we built the building and payed for all the tools that used to make them and
bought the silver and now they want me to buy it again
    O **** no .
The U S postoffice runs and never makes a profit.
Why should the mint or any operation that is performed by the goverment be able to take my tax dollars and use them to make money.
Their only fuction is to protect and serve not use my tax dollars for gain or profit.

I'll buy ONE at that inflated price - more if they lower it to what it S/B at these silver prices, $79.95

REALLY! It’s ridiculous collectors pay for the entire operation of the mint, as well as a profit. Think they’re over charging? Wonder why their sales are down? I’m about ready to stop buying from the mint and just sit on what I have. This is supposed to be fun, not a constant annoyance, dealing with an abusive monopoly.

    I can dream, can’t I? lol

You know, that ad says nothing about the 2 coins being exclusive to that set - another reason to buy only one.

I thought I read somewhere that it was. Let me do some poking around......

Yeah, Coin World and CoinNewsUpdate reported that the mint said both coins would be exclusive to the set, but nothing in writing from the mint (so far). Same scenario as the 2012 set.

I’ll tell you, if the mint never does state in writing that these 2 coins are exclusive to this set, I’ll have to write off any publication that said they were, as a tool for the mint.

Just read this article again, that states “These coins will not be sold separately.” These guys are either legal incompetents or conmen. That statement leaves open the possibility that they could be sold in another set together. Sounds like a stretch, but that’s how conmen operate, they count on you over looking the little door they left open.

Yeah, I'm with you. It doesn't say the coins will never be sold separately by the Mint. As far as we know, Coinworld means that they will not initially be sold separately.

The mint makes no reference about future availability of either coin after the set goes off sale. The article makes reference only to selling the two pieces separately. Technically they could be part of future sets, or "not separately" could mean at the same time during the sets window of availability. It gives them wiggle room to offer them latter if they choose. IMHO.

Yeah, they know what they are doing sometimes. They might have carefully chosen how to word it so that they still have the option to offer one or both coins in a prestige proof set or the dollar set or something.

The mint got so much hate mail over the 2012 sets that I doubt they'll do it again........
