2 silver quarters have been found in random change. 2 Mercury dimes also found by going through old change. 1 Morgan was a pass down from my father. 1 Troy Ounce piece was also passed down from dad. 1 Canadian coin found from when I was younger, brought home some random Canadian $. Didn't know it was silver until last week. 1 90% half 1 40% half That's what I have, nothing compared to you guys, but it excites me none the less!
Free silver is the best. That American Prospector is in extremely good condition. Very nice collection.
thanks so much, it is in great condition, there are some surface imperfections as far as color goes on it, but no scratches at all anywhere. Flawless other than some 'toning' perhaps. And I do love my 'free' silver! and us new guys to the forums appreciate these responses. A little childish perhaps, but it keeps me interested in both the coins and forums!
We all started somewhere. For me it's not what I've got in my stack...because there will always be others with WAAAAY larger stacks. It's that I still get excited to not only purchase coins and bullion, but also for those random finds (silver coinage in regular everyday change...whoo hoo...how the heck did this make it all the way to me??). I started many many years ago with just a few mercury dimes (love them still), kennedy halfs from my parents, and a couple random 1oz rounds given to me by family or bartered away from friends who raided their parents' coin collection. Finding those coins that have made it through countless hands and not yet been snatched up still excites me. One of the coolest things was about 10 years ago (or maybe it was 15??) my uncle got change from Disneyland which included 2 $10 silver certificates...one of the coolest finds I had seen up to that point.
Here's a couple pictures of my coins and rounds out playing together. Condensing and changing storage methods for continuity purposes.
Is it just me or do the coins and plastic containers in the 2nd pic look oblong, smeared, etc.? Optical illusion with the lines in the background?
Ahh i didnt see it on my phone when editing the picture, but that is from the iPhones new panoramic picture ability. I must not have stayed on a straight line and it wasnt able to properly align the new picture as i was passing by the old.
I like seeing me some libertads and that cap and rays! I've got an '09 1oz, '12 5oz libertad and an 1884-Ca 8 Reales. Gotta love those Mexican coins!
I wasn't going to even post this but with all the comments about Mexican bullion/coins, I thought I would give it a go.
