US Commemorative Silver Dollars from US Mint seem to be a bad investment.

Where are they selling for those prices? My understanding is they only command $200 or less, except in MS70 condition.

S4L: I'm guessing that Green was being facetious. The coins you see selling for the $25-35 range tended to have release prices in the $20-$30 range. No one is buying coins from the Mint for $64.95, then selling them for $35.

The final coins missing from my now complete post-1981 set of silver and clad US commemoratives were the 1995-1996 Atlanta Olympics series. I was diligent and careful in finding original government packaging for all the coins except the proof half dollars. The last uncirculated silver dollar took one year to obtain, at just under $200, $91 of the cost was covered with a quarterly eBay rebate. It was worth the wait.

Congratulations on that accomplishment! That's actually very impressive since the Mint had some random commems stuck in there in the early 90s.

Don't overlook the commemorative halves. 2011 Army half dollar as an example.

The only modern silver I bought that is worth anything is the Lincoln unc. Even though it is kind of ugly, I'm keeping that.
The Jamestown and San Francisco mint uncs. I'm keeping too because I like them.
Sold the boy scout commem. unc. which never impressed me.
Another I like is the Mount Rushmore cameo proof two coin set Bought it at a yard sale for $25.

I know you are right, but the current Mint price for these neat coins is $65. It is sad that some of the dated ones are half that price. Same silver, quality, box, shine, but different designs and production quantity.
