I'm confused what bells & whistles the coin below will offer. Fancy case & book? Meh. The 2013 is now sold on eBay in flips for $35., ~7 bucks over Spot. http://www.coincollectingnews.org/2013-american-silver-eagle-bullion-coins-sell-out-sales-resume-jan-28/1018462 2013 American Silver Eagle Uncirculated Coin May 5, 2013 $53.95
worth every cent that the original owner paid for it (they came for free in the 4-coin gold proof set), yeah, that's right. Not bad for a free "throw-in"
...and most people never even paid attention to them until some telemarketers started heavily promoting these in the late 90's-early 2000's. A dealer friend bought one of these once for less than melt on the gold, giving the silver zero value in the purchase.
1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003 and 2004 used to buy rolls of 20 for between 120 and 150 bucks. I was new to the silver eagle thing back then. I do not have any dated after 2004, as silver rose, it just seemed there were better values in the coin world I switched to Canadian proof sets they had more silver by a smidge and you could find em for about the same price levels 5.00 if I was really luck 8.00 if I wanted to reach. personally I think all the American eagles now are just a plain ripoff. Paying 10%, or 20% or even more on the infomercials, didn't they make like 50 million in 2011 or 2012.............. it not like there is going to be any collector searching for something with that high of a mintage.............and I have never graded a silver eagle or panda, but aren't they all pretty perfect now ? I see 4 channels on TV selling ms69 for 59.99, 69.99, 79.99..............sorry but I just don't see that being a winning trade
Just think of the Registry Set points awarded on that baby. I wouldn't even be surprised to hear that this winning bidder was in fact "stooging" for this marketing-crazy TPG.
