We always talk about the effects of a financial collapse on bullion, but what about a Korean War which could be the first Nuclear War ever. It could easily escalate into a world conflict, and even if localized, it would still impact Asia.
There isn't going to be a Korean War. This is just saber rattling from the North Koreans. The North and South have been in an official state of war since the 1950s...there was never a peace treaty signed between the two states. From what I have read, if the north actually started a active conflict...the war would likely be over within a week resulting in a decisive victory by the US armed forces. Bullion would be unaffected. But, the north knows this and they won't do anything.
That would be logical to a rational human being, but his hate and frustration could override his logic. To make himself not look the fool, he may put himself in a corner without any options. We learn the hard way sometimes that "it will never happen" often does.
We'll see. Point being, if it does happen the conflict will be very short. I won't escalate into a "world conflict" and will be over within days. I don't think bullion will be affect in the slightest.
I could see a spike in both prices. Gold and silver are popular entities in Asia. The wealthy from that area, may want to include more of it in their financial mix. Just in case. That rise may not be for long, but it could be a reason for consideration.
Nuclear war??! Oh gimme a break! Kim Jong-un asked daddy to build him a Pyonyang Disney theme park when he was 10 ... and was just shooting hoops with Dennis Rodman last month. Plus, he's posting on CT lol He's just a fanatic who wants to nab a few more unsearched Wheatie rolls off eBay YOU KNOW HIM YOU LOVE HIM lol
I'm confident the AEGIS Ballistic Missile Defense System can knock down anything Li'l Kim cares to put in the air. Thank-you President Reagan and Lockheed-Martin! :hail:
Dunno  North Korea has shut down all their communication lines and we haven't heard from CT "North Korea"...so...maybe.
Whatever North Korea is doing at the moment is just a child throwing tandrums and being a drama queen. This is so that they can obtain more food aid for nothing.
I'm not sure what you've been reading, but if it hits the fan over there, it would neither be short nor decisive. It would be a very aggressive war fought in a highly populated area. I was stationed in Korea in 1994-1995. The Second Infantry Division is a speed bump. Their purpose in life is to slow the North down until reinforcements can arrive. Sure, we have technology on our side, but North Korea has sheer numbers on theirs. Numbers vary wildly, but most accounts put their military at 900,000-1,200,000 soldiers. The Second Infantry Division is around 20,000 soldiers. I don't even know if we have 1.2 million rounds of ammunition in South Korea. (Actually, I'm sure we do, but we don't usually get one shot one kill.)
I really don't know what Kim wants, but if he doesn't get it, he's prepared to hold his breath until he turns blue.
North Korea can't seriously challenge us in the air and their air defenses are archaic. I seriously doubt any number of troops could ever reach Seoul without China's help...and China ain't helping. The most recent sanctions (approved by China) puts Li'l Kim in a tenuous position politically. As usual, they're trying to strengthen their hand prior to entering negotiations. I wouldn't be surprised to see some of the disputed islands or shipping attacked again. They might even throw a conventional missile across the border...at a US staffed military target. That would certainly get everyone's attention! North Korea sometimes runs interference for Iran. When North Korea is kicking up dust, it's a good idea to keep an eye on what Iran's up to.
I think you are giving North Korea a little too much credit. It would be over in the matter of seconds.
