The story above is somewhat convoluted. 68-pound avd. chunk of gold doré >> 65 ozt .9999??? This earlier article explains more: http://www.colorado.gov/cs/Satellit...Layout&cid=1251599872394&pagename=CBONWrapper I'm only guessing the total Troy-weight (870 Fine ozt. Au & Ag = ~60 lbs avd) means the "gold doré" has 8 lbs (117 ozt.) of slag? Otherwise, 55 lbs avd = 802 ozt. too low for the Fine-weight ozt. given. ONLY 65-72 ozt Au will go towards the project >>> so presumably 798 Fine ozt (most of the PMs) were returned to Cripple Creek & Victor Gold Mining Company. The Cripple Creek gold doré ingot would have been ~71% Fine Au and ~21% Fine Ag, correct? (What wasn't mentioned was the huge tax-break to CC&V, I'll guess.) Also: the Au cost basis is estimated at $1,846. so POG was $1,573. >>> not 17.37% premium including all costs for milling/transport/security/insurance etc. but rather the (higher price) London Spot on Sept. 22, 2011. Hi Juan, Gold leaf is so amazingly thin that it's hard to describe to someone that's never seen it. I remember in Bangkok on R&R visiting buddist temples where there where hundreds of clay buddas, each belonging to a family. The family members would visit the temple to worship, burn a josh stick and melt a small square of gold leaf upon their statue. The younger families had a smattering, while some of the old were actually gold plated. peace, rono
