I agree, it's all just bullion to me.

I could also drill a hole in the fake and put a keyring on it. :)

I emailed the seller and asked whats going on with her. heres her response./

there real silver. The lot i sold her was included a hand poured piece of bullion that was a "smelt" and was probably 950. She agreed to revise it due to her misunderstanding. I assure you, Your not getting a bar such as that. It will be solid and authentic. If you would like to cancel your bid i understand, But believe i DO NOT operate business such as that. I have a ebay newbie (2) that doesn't understand or respect the ratings, She posted that without reading what she was buying (which technically was free because of the "bonus") I ALWAYS do whatever the customer wants, Ive sold alot of bullion and rare coins, some over $1,200. People who spend that kind of money know what thier buying and magnet check things or have an expertise in coin. Don't let the ignorance of a false feedback detour you from my items, She will be changing it soon as she realized she was mistaken by what she thought she had. Thanks,

    Simone

This thread makes me a little sad.

Since the seller did reach out to make this right, why not let them do that? Once they make it right, it's up to you whether you want to change the feedback or not, but to me I'd change it to neutral because I wasn't really out any money and learned something. I'm not sure if the seller is a scammer or not, but it seems to me that many want to make them out to be one without any experience with them. It's sad that this is the world we live in, the .01% of the scammers make the other 99.99% guilty by being human....sad

Again, a negative feedback is not a death sentence. Its the sellers responsibility to authenticate what they are selling. If they made a mistake thats fine. The negative feedback will be warning to future buyers that this seller made mistakes in the past, so be careful. This is the reason there is a feedback system.

How did they reach out to make it right? Buy saying they will refund me after I revise the feedback?

They can "make it right" without me having to "let them". They simply have to refund me, if they want. I don't really care anymore.

Why should I take them at their word now that they are going to refund me after I revise my feedback?

From what I can make of bkozak33 contact with the seller they know about silver and magnets.

If I was the seller and received such feedback I would probably check the other ones I had for sale with a magnet and once I found out it was true that they did in fact stick to a magnet I would refund the buyer ASAP without asking for anything more from them.

BTW: it looks like they did pull the other bars they had for sale. :)

Sorry it happened to you, but i have been warning about bars for a while. How are you sure the other one isn't just silver plated pot metal? Silver is way too easy to imitate its sg, so you have to trust and rely on your dealer.

i can empathize. it's not about the refund at this point.

While I understand you think they're being heavy handed about you sending it back before they refund, I think if you communicate to them your concern, you'd have your money back by now and would be moving forward. In the end it's up to you.

I'm more concerned that it seems a lot on here have condemned this seller as a scammer, and they don't know fact 1 about this seller, except what you posted. I prefer to live in a world where I can forgive a mistake and would hope the same treatment is given back to me. I do make mistakes and realize others do as well.

On the other hand, according to the email bkozak33 posted, the seller is now lying outright to other bidders about the circumstances of this negative -- claiming that the buyer was unhappy with a .950 hand-poured bar, and not saying anything about a plated ferrous bar.

At this point, I could assume that both the OP and bkozak33 are lying about their experience with the seller. Frankly, though, it seems more likely that the seller is trying to pull something. Avoiding this seller seems like the safest choice.

    definer definitely....! LOL

@AJ I completely understand where you're coming from but I would put this in the context of the purchase being made at a LCS. You most likely would have gone into the shop and told the person behind the counter what had happened, gotten a refund, and walked out satisfied with the transaction. In this case, you (and the seller) take advantage of the anonymity offer by the internet to make a bigger issue out of it.

I've bought and sold on eBay since before it was eBay and have had very few problems. In one case I was outright lied to but most of the others were simple misunderstandings. I recently had one where the auction information said it was for a 6 coin lot of Franklins and I won for a fantastic price of $36. When the coins arrived there were only three and, in fairness, only three were shown in the auction's picture. I contacted the seller who said he'd made a mistake and had posted the 6 coin statement under the influence of cough syrup. True or not I don't know but He offered to make it right and we settled on a free coin and positive feedback from me. A win-win for both of us.

I do agree with you regarding including the shipping cost when buying from some non-eBay sellers. For those of us that are small buyers The cost of the postage has to be factored in. I will still buy bullion off eBay but only things like Johnson Matthey bars. They can still be faked but I'll take the chance for a good deal. I also buy bullion from aydincoins.com

I understand how you feel but I always give people the benefit of the doubt and look for the win-win. It's worked for me but YMMV! :thumb:

And we're all making the assumption the response was about the same transaction - it might not have been.

I actually feel the exact opposite. There are a bunch of folks on this forum and probably on this thread who are big time ebay sellers and will almost always side with the seller over their own fear of a bad feedback. Granted - plenty of buyers are scammers too but to me this is typical these days. The seller sold a fake bar and got caught because someon opened it. Given the reply she gave bkozak33 - I believe she knew all along what she was doing. The "I bought them from someone else" and "I didn't know" excuses don't sit with me. I've purchased from folks with negative feedbacks before and will continue to do so when I feel ok about it.

I for one am grateful about posts like this and frankly, I think it's insane that some of you are telling him to change his feedback. The seller didn't make anything right or his money would have been refunded instantly - which is what I would do if I inadvertently sold a fake bar. Instead, the seller is telling another potential buyer (see bkozak33) that the negative feedback is nothing more than a total misunderstanding on part of the buyer who left it.

More BS from another BS seller on ebay

Putting the seller to the side, I can see this happening more and more, and here is why.

When I tell quite a few auction buddies of mine about fakes, they are taken aback, and most never have known that certain items can be fake until I tell them about it.

The amount of counterfeiting done by the Chinese is astronomical. From the various industries I am part of, I can tell you for a fact the following items are being faked.

    - Watches
    -Purses, and other leather goods.
    -Shoes, and popular clothing.
    -Metal Detectors
    -Satellite Receivers
    -Airbags (full of shrapnel).
    -Jewelry
    -Gold, Silver, and other bullion.
    - Apple iPods, iPhones, and other devices.
-Coins, even certified coins they are faking.

Over the past few years I have seen this grow rampantly. It will continue to grow until a stop is put to it.

Getting back to the seller, MANY people are unaware of counterfeit silver bars. They usually test hand-poured bars, but most people take a regular silver bar with a great amount of trust.

I can see a lot of people never testing them and selling them.

If you can take something for granted, would you worry about it authenticity? Probably not.

Not only are the Chinese doing this to disrupt our trading systems, it hurts the small seller even more.

People will start seeing the small sellers as being shysters, and only buy from the "big box" bullion stores.

People will start seeing the small sellers as shysters when it comes to other items being sold, and they will only buy from authorized sellers.

    Here is a good question....

    -------------------------------------------

If people on here are saying we have no power in china, what about INTERPOL, the international police.

China IS a member of INTERPOL.

    Can't they do something?

If not, as mentioned earlier, this problem is going to get out of hand, mark my words.

If I bought a silver bullion coin/bar from my LCS and it stuck to a magnet, that would put a huge and possibly irreparable dent in my trust for him. I would probably tell friends that I received a fake coin/bar from him.

I give FeeBay sellers a little more leeway, especially the ones that aren't active bullion sellers. But this seller even has "Bullion" in her name. If she sold me a well made fake Chinese Panda, I'd be a little more forgiving than selling a coin that sticks to a magnet.

Also, there was a report of a fake bar in her feedback made on Feb 16th and this auction closed on Feb 27th. If I was in her shoes, I would have been testing my inventory to make sure I wasn't sending out fakes. Sending out more fakes 11 days after someone complained is inexcusable.

The feedback on the 16th was positive. The buyer made a correction on the 23rd indicating that the bar was fake. So the fake was sent out four days after the complaint. I don't know if the seller would have been aware of the comment or not.

The Seller is responsible to deliver the product "as advertised"...and the Buyer is responsible to pay in a timely manner...end of story. :just-sign:
