Yes I neg, but I asked questions later? No I never asked the seller any questions after I left feedback.
The feedback I left is fact.

You assume I will be getting a refund.

I have not asked for a refund and I doubt people selling fake silver on ebay give refunds, lol...

    Thanks for the laughs.

You might get a refund - it happens all the time with fake items. Sometimes sellers really don't know if they're fake. My feeling is that she's trying to make the situation right and you're being sanctimonious.

I guess I don't pay attention to their overall rating, I go directly to their feedback and read BOTH negative and neutral feedback.

I'm not saying she is running a good business or good at running a business and I wouldn't buy from her again. I'll stipulate that there's a high likelihood she did it knowingly. But, I know very reputable coin dealers who have unknowingly bought and sold fake coins.

I'd hate to persecute someone for an honest mistake because I was embarassed, but to each his own.

Anyway, best of luck in the future.

So, did I misread the part where you quoted the seller as saying they'd be glad to give you a FULL REFUND FOR THE COST associated with the transaction?

I had to look up, sanctimonious...(no kidding)

I learned a new word today, thanks. :)

Maybe I am being to harsh. The $33 is not going to make or break me.
So I have a fake in my collection now. Guess it's no big deal.

Life's to short. Have fun and enjoy.

    Maybe?

    Once again the seller said...

I assumed they wanted me to revise my feedback first other wise they would have simply refunded me and then asked for me to revise my feedback.

I have not revised my feedback and I'm not going to.

I have also not received a refund. IMHO they are in the wrong.

So I revise my feedback as they ask and then hope they refund me?

Again I don't care one way or the other about the refund. Just thought I would give a heads up to to others with similar interest in buying bullion.

    Sorry for sharing.

No reason to be sorry. I think warning other buyers is a very valid point, but if she offers a refund, you might want to accept. Why get stuck with a $30 hunk of iron? You can revise the neg, if you want, after you receive the refund. I agree with Erik about making it a neutral - that serves the purpose of warning other buyers, and you haven't wasted your money.

I wouldnt revise either. Thats the whole purpose of the feedback system. If i wanted to buy a silver bar I would not want to buy one from someone that doesnt take the time to authenticate. A simple magnet being all they would need. Its the sellers responsibilty to authenticate items before selling. Ebay warns me this everytime I list something.

I guess I'm coming at it from the perspective of a seller. I am very careful to properly list my items, but I'm as capable of making a mistake as anyone. I would hope that if I did make a mistake, and a customer wasn't satisfied, they'd give me a chance to make it right.

Or you could respond and say "I will revise my feedback when I receive a refund."

Or, you could open a claim with Ebay, no?

I'm not trying to jump down your throat and like I said, to each his own. I just don't see the reason for not communicating with the seller outside of the negative feedback.

But leaving it as is implies the seller made no attempt to correct the situation with you and that's not fair, IMO.

Again, to each his own. Best of luck.

And let me be clear; I'm glad you shared this. It helps create an awareness in our community and I am thankful for that. I guess I'm just picky about the way people use feedback. If my tone has been too critical, and I have come across as too nit-picky, for that I apologize.

Its not like you get a negative, your out of busines. I buy from people that have multiple negatives. I would buy from a seller that has a negative from selling fake silver, I would just examine it extra closely.

Stand by your gut, AJ. Bullion dealers are & should be held to a higher standard. She didnt inspect product from original seller? Sure she did, last years, different backs, blah, blah.

You're right about that - that's exactly the way I shop also. I suppose I'm commenting on the principle of the thing - that if someone admits to being in the wrong and wants to make amends, a bit of forgiveness is in order.

As someone who buys on ebay quite a bit - I'm not sure what to do here. In general, I give people the benefit of the doubt but more and more lately it seems that people are just scumbags. In the end, there is no difference between negative and neutral for the same argument. If it's neutral and says "fake silver - buyer gave refund" or if it's negative and says the same thing - what is the difference? I believe that most folks who buy would simply see 100% and wouldn't bother to look at feedback. If it had something less than 100%, I always look at the negatives.

Buyer beware - sure - but seller beware too.

Can you read my mind or what, lol...

Just said to them that next to the ebay "Revise Feedback" button it says...

and that I felt the problem was not yet resolved so it would not be right for me to revise the feedback yet.

They then left me positive feedback and replied back saying they would refund me once I returned it.

I kind of feel like I'm on trial here and having to defend myself now with some of you. ;)

Maybe I am being sanctimonious, but I replied back with..

If he would've been willing to leave negative feedback that said, "Sold fake silver, seller offered refund", then we wouldn't have gotten to 3 pages.
