Did not think it would happen to me, fake 1oz silver bar!

Wow, I have been buying ASE and ML for years.
I just decided to mix in some 1 oz bars into my collection. The second one I purchase ended up being a fake!

I could almost tell right away when I took it out of the package.
To start with it was in a hard thick plastic case with a sticker sealing the seam of the case that said, "Authentic".
It was a foil type of sticker.

I opened up the plastic case and could tell right off the bat from the feel of it that it was not right.
Got a magnet and sure enough it's fake! My jaw about hit the floor when the magnet pulled it out of my hand.

So as of now 1 out of 2 one oz. silver bars I have purchased are fake. :(

Purchased it on ebay. This really makes me want to stick to ASE and local dealers.

The ad says you still have eBay's Buyers Protection even with his no return policy. Follow their procedures for a claim and you should get restitution.

Sometimes that's tough once the seal is broken. It would have been better if the magnet test was done while in its original packaging. Perhaps eBay can do an investigation.

Bullion babe Simone. Anyway, that looked like a risky auction on a number of levels.

I sure hope you didn't neg the seller BEFORE contacting them. Always contact before negs, they are a last resort.

why would you guys buy bars off from Ebay when Goldmart is so much cheaper and actually silver?

Sure you can sell them on ebay, but don't be listing them as...

    I left feedback as...

The seller has contacted me with...

I'm not going to revise my feedback. The refund means nothing to me.
IMHO if it was not BS they would have simply refunded me to start with.

I just used it to teach my son a lesson. :)

In the long run it could be well with the little bit of money I got ripped for.

I have added some photos of it stuck to the magnet that is on the bottom of my flashlight, lol...

    Define "much cheaper". ;)

I guess at this point I can't disagree with how ever you define "much cheaper" because I just paid $33.00 to have a fake 1 oz silver bar emailed to me, ROFL...

I have looked at Goldmart recently and it seemed, (at least with small amounts of silver) it was not "much cheaper" if cheaper at all.

But I can't really say much to defend myself about why I buy silver on ebay at this point, being I just got taken for a ride.

Off to take another look at Goldmart. :)

Did you ask for a refund before you gave the neg?

    Plus $5.95-$7.72 for shipping.

    and before anyone points out...

i don't plan on purchasing that much at one time. ;)

Guess one way to look at shipping is if I purchase 10 oz at one time I'm paying less then $1.00/oz for shipping.

I have been using ebay since 1999 and this is the first bad experience I have ever had, but it really has left a bad taste in my mouth.

Wish I had the opportunity to purchase more often from a brick and mortar coin shop, but the closest one to me is a four hour drive round trip so I have purchased a lot online over the years.

Even paying a bit for shipping at Goldmart is better then paying (even one time) for fake silver on ebay.

No, you neg first, ask questions later.

A little harsh on the negative feedback if she's trying to make it right by you.

Especially for someone who's buying and selling bullion.

At least make it neutral when you get your refund, IMO.

I did not and that's the honest truth. :)

They did ask for me to revise my feedback before they refunded me, but I never asked for a refund to start with so what the heck...

Refund or not I'm not going to revise my feedback.

Maybe you and other will think I'm in the wrong, but in the end I'm still the one holding the fake silver bar. ;)

In most circumstances, you talk first, then give negative feedback.

But, if I received fake bullion, I'd leave negative feedback in a heartbeat.

There's a good chance this seller either knew she was selling fakes, or she didn't know how to test. In either case, she deserves the negative feedback to alert other buyers.

I think you accomplish the same with a neutral feedback.

"Bought a fake silver bar, seller refunded payment, but would be careful(or not do business again, or whatever you want to say) in future."

..instead of just slapping a scarlet letter on her.

    Blaubart Melt Value = 4.50

Not quite. If you give her a neutral feedback, then she still has a 100% rating.
