Might you share what coin you're after, perhaps? :nailbiting:

Don't bid at all in the time it's listed.. Wait until the last few seconds to do so. If you keep bidding to outbid someone else then you will keep driving the price up.

That's my technique in acquiring coins. I've won many over the years just waiting not bidding over and over again.

    Think about it ;)

@paddyman98 is dead on. If it is a coin that you really, really want... You need to wait until the bid is almost done to take your best swing.... I don't have that kind of free time so I place my max bid and go on with my life. And truth be told... I don't win many that way.

I’m trying but it’s interfering with work. Lol
People are more committed than me for sure.

I gave up internet auctions (and eBay) years ago. Even on Heritage and GreatCollections, I only look at the BIN stuff.

"Sniping" (bidding at the last moment) is an eBay bidding technique that sometimes works.

I'm a "bid early and bid the most you're willing to pay" type.
If I'm outbid then IMO they overpaid.
That also gives me the opportunity if I'm outbid to bid later on other items I'm interested in.

I can certainly see how one could use that approach.

Perhaps the ones that already got away.

I'm the exact opposite. In my experience, "BIN" = "Overpriced".

Agreed that this is the case, most of the time, for BIN. For my collection, I know what I'm looking for and what I'm willing to pay. "Overpriced" is subjective.

@paddyman98 is spot on. When I do auctions I always wait until the last few minutes. All the ones that aren’t really interested have dropped out. I have won many a coin and antiques this way. It works both in person and online.
