Within the last five years, which contemporary 'new' ~1ozt (up to 10 ozt) Silver rounds/bars have gained/held the most value, premium of POS paid at auction (or quantified resale)? High to Low, since earliest sale 2008-2012. For example, I see that the SpongeBob Squarepants sold new at a 211% premium when introduced back in Nov./Dec. 2011 (from $279., incl s/h) That item has sunkto about 137%, or 124% premium($71 ozt) in January 2013, net -13 feeBay charges. It's "recent" Low was mid January, fwiw. http://www.cointalk.com/t221823/#post1628308 Are there any special bullion collectible charts online, that you consult/recommend? Thanks.
2008 kookaburra had a minor premium initially and is now going for between $75-80 on the cheap side and up to $150 on feebay. This may not hold up since Perth Mint has been reissuing old kooks that did not meet their 300,000 mintage cap, but for now this coin stands out among the rest.
I heard about that. Sounds like a great way to drive all of your customers away and go bankrupt. Imagine if the US mint started striking old US coins again to make a fast buck? Anyone for a new 1916d dime? I simply cannot comprehend why collectors would continue to order from a company that might restrike a coin you were lucky enough to profit on. Collectors need a "win" every once in a while to keep them buying direct from the mint and paying those higher fees.
Which years/types? Even among the Norfeds, there are significant variations in premiums. (fwiw those who bought the most generic lost less.)
That is a great question. Is there a chart that shows (historical data included) the premium cost of bullion collectibles? If anyone knows, I hope they reply, as I do not know. Years ago, when I started to collect Ultra Fleer baseball cards, I realized that the Beckett guide wasn't really a good price guide for the average collector. Like the Red Book for coins, the pricing was off. When EBAY became popular, I started tracking the price of the higher end Ultra Fleer cards myself. While my collecting of Ultra Fleer has tapered off, I still keep a spreadsheet of high end Ultra Fleer cards that sell on EBAY. Those are the rare, more expensive ones. So..., I know how much Ultra Fleer baseball cards are going for. Fleer went out of business years ago. After Upper Deck bought the license to make and sell "Fleer" cards, only one more year of Ultra baseball was sold (2007).
I feel betrayed too. I have a couple '90 &'91 kooks that I bought years ago and they have a good premium. I heard about the remint plan about a year ago but don't know if they followed thru. anybody know?
