US Mint going to charge $63 for 2013 Silver Eagles??

Is this the final price for the 2013 ASE's or are the prices going to come down? Silver prices are down yet their prices are up from last year. I thought they went on an average silver prices over a period of time.

$3 more than last year. And the earliest release of these since 2008.......let's hope for a new variety. :)

Too much for my interest when I can get two older years for the price of the 1 2013 coin.

Yeah, but if ya need it for your collection you may just want to bite. Or, as in my case, you have a subscription for these and you're locked in at the moment. You can always try and pick them up in the after market where they may, or may not, be less.......

I'm in no way a fan of the Mint, but in order to be fair, the price of the ASE proof compares very favorably to the silver proof coins of other world mints.

Of course, the ASE is very uninspired and repetitive year after year while other mints have design changes.

The bigger issue, though, is how in the heck can we expect the Mint to change its behavior if you all keeping sucking at her teat?

Just because a coin is minted does not mean it has to be purchased.

I've yet to get one of these, but the price is higher as many have pointed out, even with Silver dropping. Not gonna buy one just yet to see if there is a price drop...

I am confused, you can still get them from other companies for the usual 2.50 premium or round-a-bout that right?

I assume these must be proofs? Anyone care to confirm?

    Proofs indeed.

What do you mean locked in? I have a subscription for 50 that I get every year, but I am tempted to just cancel it and buy a pf70 from someone and be done with it. My understanding is I can cancel up until it says the coins are in stock and reserved. I will stick with the bullion coins at these prices.

I agree, the price of the proof is VERY reasonable when compared to other countries bullion proofs while at the same time, the US has retained the same design while the other countries have been a bit more...experimental...with their bullion.

Treehugger, who is that in your avatar?

Maybe I should have stated that I am reluctant to cancel my subscription. And yes, you are right. You can cancel.

It's John Muir. He did, along with Teddy Roosevelt, a lot to promote and establish national parks in the western U. S. in the early 20th century.

The thread title is awfully misleading. The only ASEs you can buy from the mint are the burnished and proof versions. While many here know that, not everyone does.

Sounds like you have it bad, greenie. Do what I did and call 1-800-NO-EAGLE.

They may be able to help you.

I changed it but it didn't update it on the thread.
