Picked up my first platinum pieces today. I personally steer clear of gold and platinum, but found a good deal on a few platinum 1/10 eagles. At least I thought it was a good deal. I got 5 of them at $180 each. 1997 1999 1999 2000 2003 It is nice to change it up a little and add a new metal to my portfolio.
Congrats! I would get platinum/gold coins but I will save up and buy an ounce. Call me crazy but to me size matters. I want to hold something big so i feel like I bought something
Yes I completely agree. I never bought anything this small before. I was buying silver from my main guy and as I was leaving he's like "check these out" and I never saw a one of those in person before and they are quite nice. It was kind of a spur of the moment thing. I figured since they sell for a little over $200 on ebay that I couldn't lose out. lol. The thing that scares me the most about expensive one ounce coins is that there is a greater chance of it being counterfeit without knowing it. I'm not saying there is no fake silver out there, but if I was making fake coins, why would I waste my time for $30, when I could make a $1700 coin the same size.
What do you usually buy? Isn't it crazy how something the size of a dime can be worth so much? I really do like them as contradicting as i may sound.
I usually buy silver. I have also bought some rhodium. It is crazy how they are so small and expensive lol. Have you ever seen an oz of rhodium? the bar is about 2/3 the size of a silver oz
I have just started stacking and have only purchased silver. Mainly coinage and a decent amount of junk silver. Probably going to order some 10oz bars today. Its a tough choice, 10oz bars or a metal detector lol
cool man, either way it's a fun hobby. I just like the factor of the "Unknown" with the metal detector. Just not too many good spots where I am
I am in Germany and think it would be almost impossible to get someone to go with me to translate. But i think if i figure this one out it would be good finds.
Its not, in my experience most speak very good english. I just dont want to go to some old farm and knock on the door and take the chance they do not speak english.
