I am looking to buy around $1400 a month worth of bullion, what should I buy? I have been buying silver up but I am starting to wonder if i should continue or mix in a few other metals.

Also with silver should I buy 1400 worth every month or make a purchase once every few months?

I'd just buy gold instead. Much easier to conceal and transport.

It depends if you collect and invest or only you invest. And also how are you going to sell after (to individuals or to dealers).

It depends on the situation but i would like to keep my options open as for dispersing of what i collect. And i would say collect/invest with emphasis on investing.

That's good too. Just gonna have to wait a bit longer on your return........

If you want to collect you have to buy one from each coin. For investing if you want to sell after to bullion dealers : For silver you have to buy 1 once well known generics and govt bullions with low premiums or 10 ounces bars. And for gold you have to buy 1 once bars.
If you want to sell to collectors and stackers, you can add for silver : canadian wild life and others that get disconnected from spot after 2 or 3 years. And for gold 1/4 oz.

I would wait until the appropriate time to buy rather than just buying every month no matter where the market is. Then I would go with gold.

  15. No problem....In the time waiting, I will just befriend criminals in the wild west and turn them in to only shoot the rope on the noose after I collect the reward.

    Get some ATB pucks!

I got my first one earlier today. Really neat coin! I think I may have to get more.

OP, I would cheat and "double up". I would collect coins that are valued almost entirely on bullion value.

Start collecting gold US coins by date and MM. Yes, you will only be able to buy the common issues, but you could work on a type set at first. For silver, there are literally tons of options and complete sets to acquire.

I find this your best "return". You are getting not only a PM investment but collecting enjoyment, so benefiting more than most other buyers.

As for gold versus silver, I would buy both.

Thank you all. I am curious though why 1/4 oz gold was recommended. Do they move fast? I am sort of scared of the premiums :)

medoraman, any in particular I should start with?

If I were you, start buying a type set of gold. 2.5 might be tough just for bullion value. At the same time, maybe pick through junk silver for complete Franklin and Roosevelt sets, and pick up misc coins for WL halves and mercury sets. You can go pretty far just buying junk silver for fun. Also, world type coins can be found in world junk silver. Try to buy as many different types as possible at bullion value. Same idea might go for world gold coins.

Just have some "collecting" fun with it as well as buying bullion. This is not even thinking about assembling a modern set, like AGE and ASE by year. Thats possible as well.
