Rick, What are your 2 favorite collector "pucks" based on eye-appeal of design and quality of production?
#1 is Mt Hood. Least favorite is Hot Springs. I really like the Hawai'i as it seems to be the one with the highest relief.
Mount Hood is my favorite also. I'm trying to decide between Acadia and Volcanoes in terms of the 2012 coins. I own the last 4 in 2010, only Glacier in 2011 and none as yet in 2012. I really also like the design of Chickasaw, even though the park itself is supposed to be nothing special.
Went to get my mail a few minutes ago and BAM...here she be. Very nice quality probably a 70 or a dang good 69, best of the three I own. Here's a quick pic. .
5 oz silver ATB collector's version is far better buy than the bullion one. cost of collector's version cost $204.95 from the mint. while the dealer's price is between $194.10 to $197.60 from ap***. the collector's version box and c.o.a. cost around $10.00. so the price should be the same for both versions. but i prefer collector's version. why?. you got big capsule to protect it. the coin were nicely selected by the mint. you got strong box and certificate of authenticity. and more presentable as a gift. and the price can be adjusted higher by the mint if necessary. while the bullion counterpart. those coins were selected by dealers to grading companies. the remainder were you know what?. if the mint change it price based on friday's closing price. the price should be $229.95 each.
Popularity can be a good thing...more demand later on. I am busy at work this week but just opened mine to take a quick look. The detail is awesome. The center of the eruption looks either 3D or in high relief. Mt. Hood just took second place. Hawaii volcanoes is now my favorite so far. TC
You're pulling me to the dark side.... I'm really starting to like these gas caps!!! Chief, I love the Grand Canyon coin being an Arizona boy, but is there a puck you all could recommend for a first timer? I want one with a low mintage, low price & beautiful design. Is there in one that fits into my category?
TRV, I'd hate to tell you which one to get. Not sure on the mintages of the 2010s and 2011s but I'm sure others here do. I agree with Top Cat, the Hawaii is pretty cool. The 2012s have a 25,000 max limit on mintage.
