Changed my collecting from Bust Halves to half cents. That let me buy an 1797 Lettered Edge low head half cent in VF-25 condition. A fair trade to get a rarity-4 coin.
That is one of the finest Susan B. Anthony dollars I have ever seen. It actually has a silver look to it.
My apologies, Tyler G is correct. The clear S type II proof is not made from silver. It is so well minted that it looks like a silver proof.
Lets see - 1879 business strike shield nickel mintage about 25k. I also own 1793 wreath and 1799 large cents - both mintages in the lower 40k range. I used to own some proof shield nickels, but sold those off.
1892 proof SA shilling minted 45 Circulated 1902 SA Veld pond minted 986 SA 1932 proof 1/4 penny mintage of 12
It always strikes me odd that an artist would go through all the trouble to create such an intricate pair of dies...just to strike forty-eight (48) pieces. I have to think the dies became damaged somehow...or otherwise unusable.
Glad you didn't call for US coins only. I have a gold half sovereign that was minted for the country of Gibraltar. In Krause's World Book of Coins through Google it says only 300 proofs were minted. A 1997 beauty!! I wanted to point out that these pics are the sellers, better than mine.
