Almost endangered?

The Australian Koala is almost endangered! The Koala 1 Ounce silver bullion coins shown below (2007-2012) are also endangered, in my opinion. I can't seem to find a set anywhere! Not one set for sale on eBay or anywhere else. I don't know, but based on the mintages alone (especially the 2008) I think the value of this set is going up no matter what spot silver does!

  3. Yes, I agree that the Koala bullion coin is a sleeper. TC

I don't think so. Mints have caught on to the trick that if they produce a large number of varieties of bullion coins in relatively small quantities, more people are attracted to by because of the artificial scarcity. In the long run I doubt if the premiums will persist as the market is flooded with a larger and larger number of varieties of bullion coins. Just my opinion.

That was pretty "punny" -- the Koala is a "sleeper".

That's why my operating principle is "collect the coins you like and your disappointments will be minimal."

treehugger, i like your principle! I only point this out because of the "endangered" aspect. Even the Kookaburra (featured on another Perth related coin) is not anywhere near considered to being extinct.

If you're gonna "collect" these things, at least go for unusual or unique aspects that make the coin somewhat interesting to keep. I don't think it is the varieties that create value, but the uniqueness! JMO
