I've got this 1 ounce .999 Silver round commerating Marilyn Monroe. I plan on selling it on eBay and I need input. Should I show the full nude side or cover it up.. like Photo A or B below? Your suggestions please. A. B.
I'd wing it and run the bottom picture. People looking for anything with Marilyn on it has to expect something a little racy at times. I wouldn't list anything in the title about nudity, however. You don't need to attract attention from people not even interested in anything but creating controversy.
As a collector of the "un"collectable I will opin you should NOT obscure the strategic portions of the coin - you will lose a lot of potential interest in the piece. If you think this Marilyn piece is racy, perhaps sometime you should see the Equatorial Guinea gold and silver issues with Maja Desnuda by Goya from 1970 - there were two versions, one with something only portrayed for the first time in the original version of the painting, and the second with the more suitable for early 19th century Spanish sensitivities as to what could be portrayed.

FWIW, I've got a friend who currently sells these Marilyn Monroe silver rounds for between $50 and $60 each week on bid boards at local coin shops here in Southern California. He says these are bidded on and sell like "crazy." When silver spot was in the $40s, he'd sell them for $70 each so there is a $30 or so premium over spot for these. Very collectible and desired to this day. I have a few so don't mind trying to sell one on Ebay to see what I can get there.
