Sounds like the guys running the presses made a boo boo and accidently minted an extra 20 or 30 thousand ASE 'S' proofs.........:)

I'm with ya there, and wonder aloud if some of the returns make it into sets like these.

I'm surprised I have not seen any 2012 S sets on ebay with current photos. (coins in hand) as of 7-30-2012

Congratulations on your purchase and obtaining new coins for your collection. This is a 2-coin set, did you image the other coin as well?

Im not sure why I got mine already. it was shipped next day air on friday, so it was delivered monday.

I think I have my account set up for express shipping and forgot to change it. I only received the 1 set. so I was charged for extra shipping.

I have 3 more sets ordered but those are still in process because I ordered them in late june

Regardless of all the controversy, I still get a tingly feeling when I see that.

Not yet. I figured after what the Mint did ,the other coin is not as important.

    I still feel a little bamboozled !

I had a hard time photographing the reverse. for some reason I kept getting a rainbow color on the coin. Im not sure why. never had that problem before.

x115: Your photo of the RP is pretty good, I think. Only thing is lady liberty and devices, the reflective surfaces, come off a bit dark. But the image is superior to a lot of coin images we see posted on forums. I think both coins should be regarded as special for what they are meant to represent and it would be nice to see them together as they are a set in that regard. The Mint sure has been a stinker, but you must do as you like for yourself. You know my story and I'm sticking to it. :thumb: Again, congrats on your new additions.

the truth is that the proof is far better look than the reverse proof. no wonder every countries in this world are produces proof.

why we like the reverse proof is simply because the mintage is quite small as compared to proof. and the price of reverse proof is usually much higher than proof due to low mintage.

    finally. i like proof better.

Hmmm, see, I disagree, and that's O.K.! When I look at a really well done RP, I get all giggly inside. 1998-99 Britannias come to mind. regular proofs just don't affect me that-a-way. diff'rent strokes!
