Guess the Mintage of the 2012 San Francisco Two Coin Proof Set

WOW! I thought the 2012 eagle set was going to have 2 unique coins with the same mintage. :rollling:

You sure about that? The sales date starts in august. Currently the graders don't require sealed boxes for the SF label. You could send these in unless they change the rules. If they change the rules at the last minute, it's going to suck having to submit with the original unopened boxes sight unseen.

 

I just got off the phone with a lady at the mint. She states that this new
set, TA8, will definitely have a proof Silver Eagle with the S mint mark.

Just another screw-up by the mint!

 

Next thing you know there will be a commerative Thanksgiving set with the reverse proof in it~ DOH!

 

Just what the mint needs to hear. Now they'll think that's what we want.

 

the ASE (s) proof offer by the mint with $5.00 note will not affect the value of 2012s 2 coin set. simply increase a little bit to its mintage. but still the second lowest among the proof family.

now usually the coin and note set will sell around 30,000 to 50,000. so by adding this number to 251,302. 2012s proof eagle is still the top second spot. i still believe the 2012s set will move higher and pass the $300.00 a set mark.

I was hopping the 2 coins were going to be EXCLUSIVE to the set.

 

There's no mention of a mint mark and the SF Mint is mentioned with several other facilities in reference to the theme of the mint’s entire minting history. If the mint has a brain, no way the ASE will have an S mint mark, it will have a D mint mark. Knowing the mint has no brain, their ad fails to mention what mint mark the ASE will have.

 

The mint has confirmed that this new issue will have the "S" mint mark.

Would be nice if it was a no mint mark, but that would create (yet another) variety.

Any unique mint mark would be smart. Continuing the S mint mark would be undermining the 2 coin set that buyers believed was a unique product. If the mint wants to lose a few thousand more customers, put an S on it.

 

At first she said she didn't know what, if any, mint mark it would carry. When I told her I wanted to speak with someone that actually knew the answer to my question, I was transferred to another person that confirmed the S mint mark. Believe it or not! I also have a written request in for the info. Mint says 10 working days for an answer.
